This song is the essence of the old-school folk tradition which is also blues and is the heart of rock'n'roll as well. Minimal production, ultra-simple musical structure, and lyrics that, while poetic, sound like plain english. Rodriguez was the bomb and "Cold Fact" an amazing album. I urge folks to try listening to the whole thing.

 

This song and video just about sums up the absurdity and meaninglessness of everything at this point in time.Like when you're alone in your room.I just planted a popcorn tree.

I cannot say enough about this song. It has just a regular oom-pah beat but something about it is amazingly driving. Of course I love the nonsensical lyrics and I think "Monkberr Moon Delight" must refer to a strain of weed.

Something about the ebb and flow of this melody, and the Wailers lightly, almost barely playing alongside Bob that makes everything alright and I find that secret place inside myself again. It never made it onto the original Catch a Fire album. Makes me wish I had some bud, for sure.
