By the way, that Frederick Mercier song I posted 2 posts up ^ was sampled by Jay-Z, which I have to tip my hat too, that's fucking impressive. Of course, he most likely had someone else turn him onto that track, because I doubt he's on his hands and knees scouring French thrift stores for old space disco albums. But if he is, then, daym!

I can't believe, after how many years I've known you, I never thought to bring this up before.. wtf is wrong with me?
Anyway, Red Light Records is a relatively new used record store in Amsterdam, I know the owner (his name is Tako) but I've never been to your country (or left the US, for that matter), so if you are ever in the mood to look for obscure music, I cannot recommend the store highly enough.. I mean I'm not exaggerating, that store regularly stocks the MOST amazing music in the world, every time he re-ups he posts Youtube video of him flicking through the "new arrivals" bin and record, after record, after record, after record, my heart skips a beat and I get sick to my stomach with envy, lol. I have no idea where the hell he manages to find that stuff, I assume he travels around the continent but I truly don't know, I've never asked him.
So this brings me to my point; if you ever see any of the albums that I post songs of for sale, and you can afford the buy it, could I make it worth your while to mail them to me? I have to pay insane prices to get them online since I can't afford to travel and take the time necessary to dig up all of those gems, so my only option is to be ripped off by dj's selling their double copies &c. Just an idea, and I'd definitely be willing to return the favor should, but at least would wire you the money up front plus a little extra for the help. I know it's a lot to ask, but I figured I'd throw it out there, you never know, right? What I wouldn't give to be over in your country.. someday!

Well, I rarely go to Amsterdam so it's easy to miss. I did a quick search and I see they're based behind a former prostitute window haha. Ah well, I see it's not focussed on much music I'm really into I'm afraid although I dig obscure vinyl. I only know some record stores/lables that are right on what I like otherwise I go straight to soulseek or just buy at concerts myself. So I wish I could help you but I would have to go really out of my way too. I guess you could find someone who goes to or lives in Amsterdam who could do it easier!

Yea, that store is very much focused on a particular sound, and I didn't think it was up your alley from what I gather of your taste by your posts. I actually meant like, if you are anywhere such as a thrift store, or any record store that might have a section for this kind of music, like if you just happen to see something that maybe you could pick it up for me, I of course wouldn't expect you to go on a trip somewhere out of your way (unless it's a psychedelic kind, lol)

Haha, well I would be willing to check in stores around here (which are not bad at all neither, I'm in Groningen btw) but I'm so low budget you would have to pay in advance :D Not too handy, but I can't buy stuff I (surely) get repaid later.

Matt, it's songs like this, which make me disappointed when I heard Fantano in the Daft Punk review mention how although the sounds of the seventies and the sounds of the eighties were neighbors, that in reality they were separated and only truly merged in retrospective nostalgia. Little thing called Supersemppft, bro.

That's fine, I wouldn't mind to do that at all! I couldn't really afford to do that for somebody either, unless they were under €15 which now that this music is become popular again, probably is not going to happen. The reason I asked though, is because for example, I found a store that is 5 minutes walk from my home, that I would never EVER dream had anything good in it, and I found well over 30+ albums that I bought for anywhere from $2 - $10, that I could easily resell online for $50, some even close to $100. So I figured, that since you live much closer to where this music was made, there is a small chance that it might turn up in a store in your town for very low prices. I mean, if they turn up in MY town (which, believe me, is completely unbelievable, I had to pinch myself every time), then the chances must be decent :D

Oh by the way, I meant that I *could* resell them for 5x - 10x the amount I paid for, but that I never will, because I love them, they are records from my favorite artists, such as Cluster, Brian Eno, Richard Pinhas, etc. I didn't find any good European space disco, but I did find a lot of psychedelic krautrock kind of stuff.

70's krautrock records are rare around here even if we live next to krautrockcountry :p I'm not so sure about the genres you're into to cause I admit I generally skip those sections mostly but if you pm what I should watch out for the most I will take a look and keep you informed if I see some good prices.

Ok, that's perfect, I will do that! Thank you, very much :)
If you need anything from over here just let me know, of course our popular contemporary music is simple to find but if there are any more underground bands that you like, I can certainly find them (and may have copies of, as well). You probably don't, lol, just putting it out there!

Yes, open air music fests mainly. Probably won't go further than Germany this summer but Sweden has some good festies for sure, in combination with the nature I would really like to go visit it some other summer :2thumbsup: I've heard beer and booze is damn expensive over there though... But you're going to sweden this summer?
