How this album came out in 2011 and still hasn't been recognized for it's brilliance is beyond me, because it contains some of the most impressive music ever composed. I don't think I could even properly respect Oneohtrix Point Never if it weren't for this, because his solo albums, gorgeous as some of them are, truly are derivative and rely too heavily on the power of the Juno series 60 for effect (something not apparent to anyone who isn't obsessed with seventies Berlin school and analog synthesizers). This work however, takes a hugely different approach, and it is essentially synth-pop, but with elements of disco, synthfunk, prog, soft rock and R&B, or, the exact genres which most fans of experimental electronic music absolutely abhor. Which, really, is a great aspect to it because its not blind nostalgia, but nor is it properly nostalgic, either. This album was composed and recorded in Jan Hammer's studio and if the power of it doesn't captivate your attention, you possibly aren't very much into music, I can't imagine anybody for whom music is a passion at least not recognizing how impressive it is.
