Not sure what you mean. Can you clarify? Extortion from whom? Are you referring to this forum? We are anonymous here. Recording? What kind of Recordings? Remember, if you are in public, in a public forum, a public arena, Government establishment, or even a Private business, you have no reasonable expectation of privacy. At the very least, you can always be recorded in a private business, if you voluntarily enter the establishment. They have the right to protect their company and services. (NOTE: Restrooms or Changing Rooms may not be recorded, but cameras outside of them are ok). If you are on the street, all bets are off. You can only sue or stop someone recording, if they plan to or have used your image of voice in a commercial endeavor. (In other words if they make money from your likeness.) Surfing the web, using internet sites, email, etc. it is up to you to secure your own data, no one else is responsible. Windows is especially vulnerable to viruses and hacking. Get advise from your IT Professional on securing your system. Remember that VPN's don't shield you completely, and never will. Your information is open and viewable to the VPN Provider (SurfShark, Noord, etc.) as well as your Internet Provider, (The guys who put the modem in your house. AT&T, Comcast, Spectrum, etc.) If you shop online you are vulnerable as well.Yes, that even includes DoorDash, UberEats, Instacart, etc. Password banks like NoordPass, 1Password, Norton, or RoboForm, and otehrs, may seem like a good ways to secure your passwords. They aren't. Remember that those services are also vulnerable, if they are hacked, All of your passwords are compromised. Don't let anyone tell you that you are able to secure your data 100%, that just isn't possible. All you can do is take reasonable and proactive precautions to guard what is important. WARNING: Yes, I do work in IT, No, I am not giving you free advise on security, No I take no responsibility for your data, Passwords, or important identity forms. This post is a response to a query on an "Entertainment" Forum. This is NOT an official IT Brief.
I am not in IT nor am I am remotely knowledgeable in the computer field. But everything is computers and technology. My question was I have heard a few cases from other people where the it or seo guy hijacked the persons website from one server to another, and on a recent case, the homeowners who I know very well and work together said someone planted motion activated recorders in their home where they did remodeling work. They do not know who but it has to be one of the subcontractors. My brother Julio joined this forum today and he knows more details.
Many people are getting scammed by tech support people. Many victims are not pressing charges due to embarrassing issues and privacy and just give in to hackers or illegal hidden videos or wiretapping
I would not recommend remotely mentioning names or anything that clues anyone in who the victims can be little brother.
You are aware, aren't you, that people plant their own listening devices and recording devices in their own home on a regular basis, and the reason most people can't find the devices is because they aren't looking in the right places. he hard truth is that no contractor has to bug you, you bug yourselves and then make it easy to take that information from you. If you have an Amazon Echo (Alexa) or other similar device, as well as automated lights (Alexa turn on the living room light) and network linked devices, like a Ring or other video doorbell. Maybe you have a linked baby monitor, or pet cam. Anything of the sort, and if you have them linked so that you can check any smart home device from your phone or tablet while you are away or at work, and the y record sound and let you talk back, all of that can be accessed over the internet to someone who knows how to access it as well. Is your password your birthday or a loved one's birthday? maybe it's your anniversary, or your license plate number. Maybe it's your fur baby's name. Did you through old bills in the trash? did you shred them first? If not, your life is theirs. So you remodeled. Did you have them install Bluetooth speakers in the new kitchen? Did you have them install a new waterproof shower radio that can connect to Amazon Music and get color therapy lighting from a new age shop? Oh and by the way, your cellphone is always listening and always tracking you, even if you think it isn't. If you use banking apps, and apps to track mileage on your car, or an app that reads your car's computer, they constantly send info to the auto dealer, or your bank and can be seen and intercepted. I'm not talking Sci/Fi and I'm not necessarily trying to scare you, but I do want you to understand that no one has to covertly place anything in your home or on you. You do it to yourselves. Even if you just have a Smart TV and have Home Internet and DVR, your info is out there. New Home Security gizmos are also to blame. Trust your security system? Do they monitor 24/7 and alert police to issues in your home? Will they sense when someone breaks in and talk to them over a speak that let's the bad guys know the police are on the way? That system can be hacked and intercepted as well, just by someone finding out the IP address the system works on. they don't even have to be in your neighborhood. I live 300 miles from my job and telecommute daily. I have full access to everything from lights and computers to paging systems and in office and cloud data storage. I answer the phone in the office and no one knows I'm not physically there. I use a VPN and point to point tunneling protocols that make it possible to simulate that I am local. I'm still vulnerable if I'm not careful. Before you get paranoid and think some contractor is out to get you, check your own tech and toys. The majority of people who think they are being targeted by hackers, probably aren't. Hackers want something, if you don't have what they want, you aren't worth their time. Now there is a chance that your windows machine picked up a bitcoin mining virus and you are providing someone bandwidth to mine his or her bitcoin.
Thank you for taking the time to explain the overview of potential fraudulent activieties for someone who is not mentally stable. Most workers in the construction trade or owners of companies I subcontract for do not know this. One case my wife (legally married) with me had their web designer hold the whole website hostage and could not do anyting about it because the website doesnt have title or ownership paperwork. Gloria told me that all they do is have the domain or uRL or both signed up with their email account. So, anyone who have acces to username and password with a sick mind can rob websites or other intellectual property. The sextorion I am talking about is hidden motion activated cameras and voice activate recorderd were discovered in their personal residence where no body but the person authorized to occupy their home should have privacy and access. Not right. I heard it second hand and since it was an ongoing second story addition it invloved over a dozen subcontractors. So until the actual culprit is caught or a whistleblower comes forward, it needs to be proven beyond a doubt before the offender is arrested and convicted. No jail time or fine would serve justice depending on what the damage has been done. How about the private conversations between a married couple about finances or what happens if the hidden camera was activated the married couple in their utmost private moments. From my understanding when the devices or systems were installed is not known. Large upper scale home and a 18 months time period to complete makes a potential major liability. it was not a burglar and has to be someone from within. That is what is so bad about iit and evil. It has to be someone they worked on the estate so until they are nailed, trust is broken from everyone and we are all under potental suspicion. It is shocking and a wakeup calll. I am finding the most up to date progress o this. I have a large family and half the subs are members of my family. Oh no. We may all be out of a job.
Baby brother, this was discovered almost a year ago and up to this moment nobody has been questioned about it or nobody came forward with a ransom letter demanding money because of having personal and private information on recoding. Our family members are very close to the victims and I work with the husband 12 hours a day and we are not just him boss and us employees but rather friends and brothers. You are right, Hector. Every one is a potential suspect including your and my spouse's who were not even at the premises
And, did you actually see these devices, these cameras and recording devices? Or just the recordings? It seems more plausible that the guilty devices are things people leave laying around. Integrated Cameras in phones, tables, etc. all have Motion Detect features, and All integrated microphones in these devices have auto-wake feature to beginning recording when sound is detected. "Yes, Alexa does record you. so does your phone and your iPad and Kindle Fire Tablet."
I cannot answer your question which is absolutely the first set of initial questions to get answered before even thinking a crime has been committed. I think the victims know more than what they have told me and have a lot more facts However they are very good folks with pride and are in a state of denial and are very hesitant to report this to the authorities. I never heard of such ea thing where someone can be conniving and evil at the same time taking their money and work in their business development te resiam and personal residence and plant audio and video recording equipment for personal recording. If you place your own situation as a case scenario, I think you will be appalled
They don't have to be evil and conniving. They just have to be embarrassed. Haven't you ever tripped and nearly fallen, but caught yourself, looked around and under your breath said, "I meant to do that." It's the same concept. Something happened, they feared the worst, and eventually found out it was a simple misunderstanding, but they've already told everyone it was something malicious and are too embarrassed to admit it now. Problem is, that kind of thing usually spirals out of control and creates the worst case scenario.
That one certainly caused a problem at Heathrow. When illegal immigrants presented themselves at immigration, we had no idea which of the 1,000+ toilet they had used to flush their passports. I cannot reveal how we retrieved them, but the hunting was certainly a messy job that no one volunteered for.
That's why these folks want to surrender to the extortion. I think I know who it may be and in my opinion he just wanted the intellectual property and pretend nothing happened
I saw the edited clips you sent me on the videos they requested for me to do for them Hector. I know exactly what you intended for cutting and reediting and posting short clips but it would look like shit and an Insult Plus even you were to mask it more drastically WHY risk anything with people who gave me the confidence and trust and why in the he'll would they say yes when they have absolutely nothing tangible benefits. They specifically trusted me to have a duplicate because of trust Let's stop the chat now because its getting out of line. He swore up and down that after it was done he would not breed a word but the minute it was over, he called me and there was no Taco Builder should have open his mouth. My fault and responsible for talking about it. Couldn't believe open his month to you. I will get the truth out of him This type of incidents can occur to anyone. Whole world is going to shit. I am a sell out for opening my mouth you who I trust but remember my belief that you learn from mistakes. Loses. You can make a mistake or mistakes but learn from it and it should never happen again. I don't mind have a general focus group chat about this on record but not be so obvious about John Doe and Jane Doe. I don't know how Antonio would feel about joining this online message board to shade his expertise 10 years ago. LOL.
Their are no septic tanks, The discharge from terminals 1, 2 and 3, is direct to the Bath road sewer. The sewer is fairly shallow, so the pipes do achieve the 3mm per foot gradient, needed for flow without blockage. A total of more than a ton of raw sewage solid matter is discharged every 24 hours. Airlines based at Heathrow, along with long haul international, also discharge into the system. As one of my friends who I worked there with put it, "Heathrow is a crappy airport" One of my funniest memories, was the look on everyone's face, the time when I cancelled a multi million pound system refurb. The idiotic plan was to solve the problems by increasing the pipe sizes, thus reducing the velocity. My graphic explanation, "Try putting a turd in the middle of the road, then telling it to walk over to the drain", caused some laughter, but the idiot who designed the proposed system was not doing much laughing.
Leftover lack of civil engineering acumen from the days when Rome conquered Britannia. Roman Aqueducts were wonderful. Roman Waste Disposal system were Crap. (Pun intended.)
