Set the legal aspect of it aside, if these two people, not neccesarily these two, but any two people with a similiar age gap, get along well with eachother, and want to be with eachother. Here in Ohio the legal age of consent is 13 if I remember right. I was talking to one of my buddies who is a police officer in Dayton (in the top ten/five of the most dangerous cities in the US actually) and we were on the topic since some HS girls were going around like lovestruck puppies at some of our friends.

If you want to date someone that is that much older than you than that is your priority. I'm always a big fan of making sure you are happy before you get into a relationship instead of using the relationship for a crutch to help you through times. Don't know if thats the case but I never know. I've also seen (and had personal experience) with young people (15-18 or so) being extremely depressed and trying to kill themselves multiple times. What you'll come to realize is that really isn't the mature way to go at life. Everyone thinks they are mature but in reality everyone has some growing up to do... and one thing is for sure that most people don't realize or won't admit that fact. I hope you manage to get over all of your depression because its just not worth it being depressed no matter what walk of life you come from. Also that you are happy with your life.

Good luck with the relationship... but also don't be surprised if you end up coming back to the forum after a while and hear "I told you so." from some people.

For about the first month we talked together, was November last year I believe, he didn't even know my age.
He made the mistake so many others have made before him, of thinking that I was a lot older.
Now, as for the daughter thing.
My mother knew something was up with me, and it took me a while to tell her about my boyfriend.
But, like any mother would if she knows her daughter and that she usually acts well and also raised her well, trusted my judgement, just expected that I tell her about it, and that she can get to meet him, because she of course was worried.
Now she who is my mother and should be the most concerned of all, is more than fine with him, and so is my father, a controlling dictator who calls me every 20th minute when i'm with my friends, if they accept him, and even LIKE him, and see that there's nothing wrong with him,
