Bright light gives me a headache. I wear sunglasses all the time, and no not because I think I'm cool. This is less sensory aversion, and more physical/biological. My pupils are really good at gathering ambient light. I have excellent night vision, so a flood of bright sunlight at high noon will stop me in my tracks.

I can't stand total silence when sleeping either, because then you hear everything: traffic outside, leaves rustling in the wind and, yes, I'm with ya, Mel, the sound of my partner...existing next to me. I have to sleep with a fan or air conditioner running to drown out all those little noises other people don't notice.

whoa... what are those, VG? Durian, obviously. I haven't tried it.

I used to hate blue cheese with corn chips after it made me sick one time, but I don't really have any sensory aversions to speak of these days. I'll eat anything, lol. And smells, sounds etc. don't really bother me.

After my eye surgeries I was ultra light sensitive and to the point any light would make me tear. I remember the excruciating drives to the specialist for check ups and I needed no light at home. Then for years I was very sensitive to outside. I still am but in small doses I can bare sunlight.

One thing it did ruin was our wedding photos. My eyes were blood red and screaming in agony. I have zero pictures where I'm not terrible. During the ceremony we were under a tree but I remember it being hard in bright sun. The only photos that were good was when I finally got to use my sunglasses, which didn't fit into our Viking theme at all. :(

Something still of a scientific mystery. There are about a dozen chemical compounds in them not found anywhere else

And people react to them very differently, a small percentage love the smell, or cant smell them. To the majority however, they absolutely reek. To me, like gasoline mixed with vomit.

Asian countries they have the signs up, they are banned in most airports

As I understand about appreciators of the durian fruit: they find it an unpleasant smell too. But the taste is all worth it for them

That is very interesting. Jane turns the bedside radio on to send her to sleep, Since it keeps me awake, I go up later and turn it off as I creep into bed.
Then she needs to get up in the night and on it goes again. I wait a short while before going to the bathroom and then turn it off again.
After all that, the one thing that wakes neither of us up in the morning is the alarm. :yum:

automobiles, rectangular architecture, the color red, more pavement then necessary, and less vegetation and other living things then is , natural.
not real impressed by demonstrations of gratuitous ego, nor the use of ANY gender as excuses for them.

also having to endure overhearing endlessly mundane conversations when i have other things i'd really rather have on my mind.
i have an aversion to humans who have an aversion to small relatively harmless non-humans such as feral cats.

and then there's tweekers randomly shouting random things, on the bus, they'll be silent for two or three minuets,
then shout at the top of their lungs one random word, that no one is quite sure what it was or why they did.

well ok that last is kind of funny, unless you happen to be sitting right in front of them.

oh and then there's 'religious' fanatics, who seem to thing being one 'gives them dominion' over everything.
that their god hates everything that isn't them, wants everyone ELSE to fear it (and them), and is infallibly, perfectly, and exactly, whatever they tell each other it is.

and then there's retarded alcohaoulic fascists who insist on making sure everyone else knows that they are.
i mean srsly, couldn't maybe tone it down just a tiny to not screw up for themselves the world they and everyone else has to live in.

not too fond of any lyric that romantacizes aggressieness either.

if that's too long a list, hay, i'm old enough to be cranky, arn't i?

oh and i'm not too fond of zombies and putrifying remains lying along side the road where they'd been hit or run over.
nothing against their poor tiny souls, but you know, too many cars, and roads cutting across their migration paths.

on the flip side of all that, believe it or not, i absolutely love silence, and being able to hear every little tiny sound miles away, and yes, even the occasional "ringing" in my ears

how about carpet that are so old and thin they can be neither swept nor vacuumed effectively, and are of such a discoloration they always look like crap anyway.
(kind of almost look like zombie dead things)

yes i prefer where i have to walk to be paved. i'd just like very much for where people have to walk to be the only place that is paved.

Pretty much like the carpet in my house. It was awful when we moved in. But we knew we were getting a dog it made sense to keep it. It's been nearly 6 years. :p

    Oh I forgot something
I have a weird thing about couches and the fabric being old and worn
Most of my stuff is used, either hand me downs or bought at thrift stores. i kinda pride myself on that, it's the one area where I realllly make the effort to be environmentally friendly
But I had to break down and buy a new couch because i never wanted to sit or lie down on a used couch, it just grosses me out. From the time I moved out until last year I just never used my couch, it was purely decorative
The new one is the best purchase I've ever made

I have a similar aversion to certain used items--but it is more of a spiritual thing. I used to think that I could touch something and would react to all of the energy that the past owners of that item imparted on it, and the thing would overwhelm me with that energy. Now I tend to think that I am just kind of weird.

I dont think you're weird, I've heard other people say this too! Or maybe I've just heard you say this in a long forgotten conversation haha

I dont really pick up energy from used belongings, except the things I own that belonged to my grandmother but that's a very positive energy. But I do pick up energy from old houses, so I can sort of relate

Not weird... Items of all kinds retain energy. Whether it "overwhelms" you or not is another matter.

My dad was a heavy snorer, at times my wife is no better. :tearsofjoy:
I've had to learn to kinda just deal with it, but sometimes I gotta throw out the old heel and elbow, or do something to wake her up so she'll roll over. It's much worse when she's on her back but she never listens when I tell her that so she sleeps on her back mostly. Freak! Who even does that lol. If I sleep on my back I have a high chance of getting the paralyzed dreams where something is trying to get into my body and I cannot move. Fuck dat, I gotta sleep on my side so I can rear and buck like a horse if I feel a presence... or if the ol' girls snoring :sweatsmile:.

    * nails on blackboards
    * a bunch of Americans talking really loudly, and all at the same time (I'm so sorry if that offends anyone).
*people cutting nails in front of me
    *smell of disinfectant
