None in particular. I wade around in the flotsam and notice things, is all...

I'm still fairly conflicted as to the authors of the constitutions true intentions , and that has a huge bearing on my perception of validity to the various angles of modern interpretation.

I like Glenn Greenwald. He's usually right on top of things when it comes to calling out what our government is doing...lol even if he is a Democrat ;) He's great.

Tom Woods is also pretty good, though he's very much a libertarian and tends to speak in generalities more than current events. He's better to watch than to read, imo, he gives pretty good speeches & interviews. But back to the whole FEMA/NDAA thing - here, for those of you who want a new career, check THIS out. Wonder where they're gonna be stationed?

Edit - I don't get cable anymore, we rely on Netflix and the computer for our entertainment. It's cheaper, we don't get the media bias, and I don't get the kids asking me for every toy they see in commercials (that was an unintended yet very appreciated bonus!)

    That is terribly alarming. WTF!
We need to bring all the military home and de-fund them and get them under control.

In some matters I am a political moderate, sometimes liberal, but I cannot accept the notion of a non-constitutional republic.

If 200 some odd years of technical and cultural change mandates it, let's ammend or replace the constitution we have, but if the courts and congress keep moving the goal post so to speak, in what the constitution intends or even considers jurisprudence in Somalia in making its legal decisions, then we have grounds for concern. The ever broader interpretations and legislation by legal precedent in effect nullifies the Constitution.
I would rather make the Constitution stronger and more comprehensive, more reflective of our times than let lawyers and trends determine what is justice from one day to the next.

sunfighter, here's a speech by him at LA earlier this year, it's kind of long but he is easy to listen to and that's a really good one. He's also got his own site, http://www.tomwoods.com/ . He's an historian, has written several books, does a lot of blogging, articles, etc.

I have just written a letter to Sen. John Kerry, my senator, telling him that I think he has violated his oath to uphold the Constitution by voting for the NDAA. I told him that I would never vote for him again unless he can satisfactorily explain to me why he did it.

My other senator, Scott Brown, is a ditto-head and I would never vote for him anyway.

You can try to read the bill yourself, but I generally find when I try to wade through any bills (such as the healthcare bill) the language is (purposely ?) worded very ambiguously.

    Meliai,

I honestly try to understand this stuff and I have a liberal arts degree and some upper level English classes under my belt, but the legal terminology is very precise and nuanced for a reason. In the biological sciences, information technology, electrical trade, each has their specialized terminology that few outsiders fully understand.

But as you suggested, it is still possible to deliberately leave wiggle room in the language of the document. And sometimes that leaves room for diabolical mischief.

How right you are! The bill's are written by corporate and industry lawyers, who give them to their respective lobbyists, who in turn give them to our legislators, who in turn don't read them, but rely on the same lobbyists to dumb them down for them and omit important shit. Of course the legislators don't want anyone to know how truly fucking illiterate and incompetent they really are, so they rely on the same corporate and industrial lobbyists to provide them with clever sounding sound bites and logic card tricks to fool the rest of us into thinking that they know what the fuck they're talking about - which they don't and they don't care because they are on the payroll of the banks, corporations and industries that run this corporacracy to being with.

This what I mean when I say that this nation has been privatized. It's just another incarnation of feudalism - where might makes right - the power of the ruling elite comes from wealth and land ownership (remember this latest great bailout land/property grab in a long line of land/property grabs by the financial cartel). Instead of serfs and slaves in the traditional sense, we now live in an era of debt slavery. It's more subtle and less brutal, but no less tyranical in nature. If anything, it's more insidious, because most of us aren't even aware of it.

Here. Take this credit offer. We reserve the right to change the terms of this "agreement" at any time. We know that you'll end up using it for some catastrophic expense (or simple stupidity) and over extend yourself, then you become ours. You must work and accept the scraps that your employer offers because your company answers to us and we decide and define what a "living wage" is.

We enforce our rules with our mysterious, arbitrary and illegal credit rating system which can prevent you from renting a car, owning a phone, renting an apartment, getting a job, having electricity (and the list goes on and is ever growing). In less than a decade, you could have a million dollars tucked away in your mattress, but if your credit rating sucks, you'll find that you're greenbacks aren't worth a thing - because the banking cartel wants the economy of the entire world to be debt based - some would argue that it already is.

If the President doesn't veto this bill, mark my words well, this nation has taken its final and fateful step into fascism. Yes, it's a new kind of fascism but fascism nonetheless and all the more vicious and diabolical for in its subtlety. All that's needed to imprison you indefinitely, without due process or a trial, is for a law enforcement agency to deem you an enemy of the state by its own accord and for its own purposes. Guilty until proven innocent - this is the Patriot Act come to its true fruition. Fascism.

Obama just announced he will not veto the NDAA. The terrorists are winning, I'm afraid.

The 1%ers,the military-industrial complex, the bought and paid for legislators and their hired CIA assassins and mercenaries will not put up with this fledgling foolishness of citizens seeking fair and equitable treatment under any stinkin' piece of paper. It's been a well thought out plan in the minds of those for whom no law applies and consider the natural order of events to be the stripping all citizens of everything we think are our rights and priveleges to live in a free society under our constitution. Oh yeah--they need all our money too. The tanks have rolled in the streets before(bonus army-1934),blood was shed and may be/will be again if we get too demanding of that which we have taken for granted all these years. They have taken out a president of this country--his brother--civil rights leaders--leaders of other countries that don't go along with the capitalist program,so we peasants won't be much trouble for them. They'll have no worries when the disappearances begin because it always happens to someone else. Doesn't it??

Thanks a lot Obama for bowing down to the gestapo! It's going to be a dark future for freedom of speech in this downtrodden country.

Well it is a "Presidential" power and maybe his plan is to not use it (I would hope)..... But just imagine what Newt would do with it. Half of the population would go "poof" overnight.......

    Scary shyt.
