Like Nostradamus...? And by the way Indian Yogis have also performed all of Jesus' miracles, ultiplying food raising dead and more. Did Jesus teach a buffallo to recite scripture? Or appear in several places at once?

The notion that a nation existing on an obscure planet in it's tiny corner of the universe could be 'the apple of God's eye' is frankly absurd. It may flatter US nationalists to think so, but it is nothing but a total mis-conception of what God is.
America is not mentioned in the OT. One can read a great deal into these things, but there is no mention of anywhere beyond the middle east and later the hellenistic world in any part of the Bible.
Hiowever - I don't intend getting into yet another pointless dispute about all this. If you post narrow minded nominally christian views in this forum, you can only expect to meet with disagreement.

Seriously... Sant Jnaneshwar Maharaj, when he was a boy (then called Jnanadeva) wanted to have the sacred thread ceremony. So he went to a group of brahmins to ask them to perform the rites, but they refused, since his father was an outcaste. He recited the vedas before them and they stopped him, saying that he could not recite the vedas since he was not a brahmin. Jnanadeva smiled and said, "Anybody can recite the vedas, even this buffalo!" He touched the head of a buffalo standing there, and the buffalo recited the vedas, starting from where Jnanadeva had left off, with perfect pronunciation, meter and intonation.

Sant Jnaneshwar Maharaj performed many such miracles. He brought a dead man, Sachidananda Pava, back to life. When a great yogi came to him, riding on a tiger, in all pomp, he nullified the man's pride, he made the very wall on which he was sitting move forward to greet the yogi. When there was no pan o which to cook food, his sister cooked food in his back.

However, his greatest accomplishment was the Bhakti movement, awakening the love of the lord in hearts of thousands of people. Following in his footsteps were great saints like Namadeva, Kabirdasji, Surdasji, Sant Tukaram, Meerabai and many many others.

No not like Nostradamus, The prophecies of God must be 100% accurate. The prophecies of the Bible are. Nostradamus has really no purposes for his prophecies other than a side show. And his prophecies never point the way to salvation. Also, there are many religions that work mircles, yet what is the point of those mircles. Other than to demonstrate the supernatural. Not everything that is supernatural comes from God. When Moses through down His staff it turned into a serpent. The Egyptian priest through down their staffs and they to turn into serpents. Their are two powers in this world. One power leads men to the truth, the other power is there, to lead men to error.

The Bible speaks about a nation that will exist at the time of the end that will be the merchant nation of the world. It will be a land of mingled races and people. It will be a land that is built on many waters. It will be a land that can mount up into heaven. It is a land that has a mountain of war. This land will speak with a great voice. It is a land that will have her own sea within her borders. She is a nation that is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia. (Considering the Bible was written in Israel you will have to follow that compass heading.) It is a naton that has made the merchants of the earth rich from her abundances. It is a nation that has a large population of Jewish people within her borders. She is a land that is shadowed by wings. She is a land that glorifies herself. The nations of the world stream to this land. She will also be a nation that will have an enemy to her North that will conduct a sneak attack on her. And all her cities will burn, and this nation will be destroyed in one hours time. The Bible often does not give names but it gives descriptions. This nation would exist during the time the Jews have retaken Israel and Jerusalem. The Bible does not spell out America in it's prophecy, but it clearly describes it. Just as the prophecy of the Old Testament does not spell out the name Jesus Christ, yet it clearly describes Him. You could say some other nations fulfill some of these prophecies, but only America fulfills all of these prophecies. America is mentioned, in both the Old and New Testaments.

What are the purposes of the 300 prophesies in the Bible if not to demonstrate the supernatural? How do you know that the Bible is the way to the "truth" and how do you know that the powers you mention are not the same?

The pharoahs(egyptians) too believed in many prophecies
and they followed them to extraordinary detail
even going to the extent of emblaming themselves
all in the hope that they will be brought back to life and
they will be going on some trip to fantasy disneyland as promised and
    prophesised by the true gods!!!

What actually happens is a thousand years later grave robbers come and loot their graves and their dead bodies are CT scanned and show on discovery channel

    so much for prophesies........

and bhaskar thats an interesting story but
realistically speaking do you think a buffalo can be made to the speak human language ?

    I don't think so

What I think would have happened is that sant jnaneshwara maharaj might have thrown his voice i.e he was a ventriloquist
and to people who are unaware of how this was done assumed the buffalo really spoke

Thats a possible explanation half_a_hippe, but Gyaneshwarji did any other things... Raising the dead... moving inaniate objects by yoga shakti. These are not rando things, all these siddhis are also described in our scriptures as side benefits of editation and advanced hatha yoga practice.

If they are the same God, then I worship a God who enjoys playing tricks on the people of earth and who enjoys the suffering such confusion creates. However, the Bible states that the God of the Bible is not the author of confusion. Jesus Christ is the God I have worshiped all of my life, and never has He brought this kind of confusion into my life. Yet the Bible states that there is a being that does create confusion, and is the liar of liars. His name is Satan, and he hates the things of God, and he hates all of Gods creation. The purpose of the three hundred prophecies is to establish who the God of Gods really is. For only God operates with 100% accuracy. Satan cannot.

Unlike the Egyptian prophecies, the prophecies of the Bible have never failed.
The Egyptians worshiped a false God, The God of the Bible is the real thing.

Just because the Bible says the prophecies of the Bible were fulfilled doesnt mean they were. They is no evidence they were, just the say-so of the writers of the Bible. I could just as much say the prophecies of middle earth were fulfilled by frodo bagins of Lord of the Rings. In reality they werent. There isnt even any evidence that the man Jesus of Nazareth lived, let alone fufilled any prophecies.

Ancient Rome is probably the subject.
But people who believe in the vedas don't generally subscribe to this 'end times' stuff. Why should your be book be more authoritative that someone elses?
If you think it is, ok, but that doesn't mean it's something you can expect others to accept, esp. given the attitudes displayed by the so called 'christian' leaders of America and their actions which threaten the future environment and inflict pointless wars and oppression on others throghout the world. Seems to me that America's christian leaders are more concerned to line their own pockets than anything else. This so called religion of their's with it's nonsense phrophecies is simply a screen to cover what they're really about, which is a cynical game of worldly power.
If we think that the world is about to end then obviously we don't have to worry about preserving it for future generations. We can drive our supersize cars and guzzle oil like there's no tommorrow, with no care for the consequences for others. But there have been prophecies, and an expectancy of the immanance of the end all through the christian era, from Roman times, to the first millenium to the 19th c. It seems very unlikely that it will happen now, if indeed it ever does. Perhaps the whole interpretation of the book of revelation needs to be looked at again.

There is historic evidence that points to the prophecies of Christ being fulfilled. We also have the beginning of the end time prophecies being fulfilled. Such as the Jews returning to Israel. The retaking of South Israel first, and secondly the retaking of Jerusalem. That has occured in my life time. We also have the prophecies of Jerusalems East Gate. According to the Old Testament, the Old East Gate would have an addition built onto it. That happened, and the Old East Gate is now the foundation of the New East Gate. The Old Testament said this Addition would be sealed. It is. And that part of the prophecy was fulfilled by enemies of the Bible. The Old Testament said any attempt to break the prophecy would fail. Two attemps by Moslems who tried to break the prophecy both failed. Just as the Bible said they would. There is an abundance of evidence that these prophecies are being fulfilled. According to the prophecy, the Prince to come will be the only one allowed to open the East Gate. The Prince to come, is Jesus Christ. And if you go to Jerusalem today, you will find the East Gate sealed. We are now waiting for the Prince to come. And He will come, but it will be after the world first go's through the Great Tribulation.

I can't speak for so called Christian leaders. I can only speak for myself. And I drive a care that gets 31 miles to the gallon. Ancient Rome cannot be the subject, for it does not fulfill the prophecies. And many of the end time prophecies of the Jews return were after the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. These prophecies take place around the time of Gods Third Day, which according to the scriptures will be around the year 2034. The Jews would of had to of retaken South Israel first, and according to the scriptures, they would of retaken Jerusalem second. This has all happened, and the Bible also states that for this prophecy to be correct, Jerusalems East Gate would have to be sealed. It is, and it will remain sealed until the Prince to come opens it. The Bible also states that all attemps to open this Gate will end in failure. There have been two attempts by Moslemsto break through the Gate and break the prophecy. Yet both attempts failed, just as the Bible said they would. The Prince to come, is Jesus Christ.

to be honest I do believe in the life of Christ campbell34. But I also think some of the bible stories may have been changed over time etc. And it could be easy to alter little events in Christs life to fulfil the prophecies. I care more about the teachings of Christ, which seem perfect and without comparison IMHO.

I agree it is interesting about what is happening in the world presently and some Bible prophecies. The fact the Middle East and oil is probably the most likely place to start WW3.

IMHO Christs teachings were about unconditional love, we are all Gods sons and daughters, and not to judge your neighbour unless you are without sin (union with God). It seems very few of the Christian churches do this. It seems all about judgement and there seems very little love.

If the stories have been tampered with then the Bible is not worth the paper it is written on. Yet in recent years they have made some very important discoveries which did not made the front page news. And if they did, the stories were pushed to the back pages. One of the big discoveries was the location of the Red Sea crossing site. This is where the Children of Israel walked across dry land when God split the sea before them. Of coarse Pharoahs army took persuit and God closed up the sea before they had a chance to reach the Children of Israel. Divers are now finding the remnants of Pharoahs army along a ten mile stretch of ocean. And at oppsite ends of the crossing site they have located two pillers they believe were carved by Solomens workmen to remember the occurence. Carved on the pillars are the names of Moses, Pharoah, and Jehovah. They also have found other ancient writings that were carved in stone which describes what happened there, which matches the story of the Bible. The stories carved in stone are something. Also they have located Mount Sinia which was the mountain the Bible states that Moses received the Ten Comandments. The Bible states that when God decended on the Mountain it was like a furnance of fire. The mountain they have discovered is burnt black on top. There are about twelve things that the Bible states will identify the mountain. The researchers have discovered all 12. I believe if God can put together the universe, He can keep the facts in His book intact, no matter who tries to mess with it. Christ did speak about love, but His main message was about salvation. The Bible clearly teaches that most of the world is not the children of God and that most of the world is headed for Hell. Only those people who experience the rebirth in Christ are headed for heaven. Thats why the Bible states, that unless a man is born again he will not see the Kingdom of God. The Bible also states, that broad is the way and wide is the path that leads to destruction and many there be that go in there at, but narrow is the way that leads to eternal life, and few there be that find it.

The Bible def. has been played with...go to Belief.net and read through the different English versions even...there's significant difference between the King James and the American Standard...and that doesn't even count the things lost in translation from the Aramaic, Hebrew, and Latin versions. Also, can we not forget the corruption of the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages and Rennaisance...there is no doubt that things were changed to suit church doctrine just as I know that people used to make fake artifacts from the life of Christ...so what is truly in the original Aramaic bible...who knows...I would truly like to learn the language just to find out...
