i see people every single day labelling themselves with a mental iillness of some sort... then dictate what there life is like around the label they have chosen to take on,,,it doesnt matter if they label themself or not they make the conscious decision to live life according to the label.... run through a few threads in just these forums,,, its pretty easy to identify.... generally starts with "i have ... (insert mental illness here"
I love God. So I will label myself as being in love. Other than that? Im a father. Other than that? I guess everything else I am or do is subject to change Namaste -
Once labelled, you find it hard to change, because everyone around you already has their expectations as to what you'll do or say. And you might feel trapped and stuck with a certain personality.
I've seen that too. The mental disease label provides a ready excuse for the behavior which is really an issue of self discipline.
most people call themselves whatever they are surrounded by to avoid being socially and economically discriminated against by it. the second largest group are those who call themselves whatever they think will be as a sort of gratuitous pseudo-rebelion, little realizing or likely caring, that they are just perpetuating group one by doing so. a very few, see with their own eyes, and thing with their own brains and are often confused in the minds of group one, with members of group two for doing so. this is however group one and two's problem, not theirs. this group three were once upon a time labled "hippies" to discredit their moral and political morality stance. they were NOT some sort of hedonsit auxiliary to right wing loonacy as media then, and economically influenced political history now, seems to have a vested intrest in depicting them. before the name hippie they were called beatniks, and we have always been and will always be, and, intellectual laziness being eternally popular, will almost certain always be the smallest group of those three. =^^= .../\...
