Seeking Advice On A Relocation

Wanting to move but not sure where. Single mom working from home, but Master degreed. I need more trees, less pollution. Gotta get out of northwest Indiana for sure. Can't afford cross country but a cupla hours away can't hurt. About an hour from Chicago, not far from Michigan border. I'm in my early 40's now so not fitting in with college age crowd....but still looking for peaceful progressives who won't mind that I homeschool my special needs kid. I keep to myself mostly but a friend for coffee sometimes might be nice. All advice appreciated.
