I don't doubt that you're in pain. If your prepared to drive from Pa to Mi for sustainable pain managment that says enough too me right there. Unfortunately the Fed is coming down hard on legitimate caring Dr.s just look at this as a small fraction of what's going on.--> http://www.lindacheekmd.com
Truely a caring Doc helping Veterans and Chronic Pain sufferers recieve legitimate pain managment. Also take note of who really suffers from this D.E.A. crackdown. The vet and her patients. TRAGIC to say the least. Than you have the other people starting groups at http://www.hadit.org Basically making our lives even more complicated by reporting our Doctors and growers.
Last but not least I feel for our vets. These are our men and women in uniform that have legitimate injuries and their VA hospitals and Dr's turning a blind eye and have lost touch with their code of ethics. Let's face it they work for the man. Then you see more b.s. Dr's pulling stunts time and time again refusing patients proper treatment. This site has decent chronic pain info. http://www.healthcentral .com
What does all this mean??? The worst has yet to come. Thats what I think. With you being a certified counselor in drugs and alcohol I'm actually surprised at your very generalized questions here. All my statements are just my opinions. I hope you take the time to research some of these links. Good Luck and May God Watch Over You In Your Time Of Need. Peace Be With You Just my ramblings hope this helps

I saw a documentary years ago concerning people addicted to prescription pain meds, and they said that there were studies that show people can take narcotic pain meds for years with no ill effects, even while addicted to them. You just have to take them as directed, and if it's something like vicoden that contains acetominophen you can't combine it with alcohol or go over 4000mg of acetominophen per day. Being in severe pain can be harder on you than the meds. The problem doctors face is people who see multiple doctors at the same time just to get the pills to sell.
