BLACK Lives Matter activists in Seattle have urged white residents to give up their homes as a form of reparations.

Dramatic footage livestreamed from a protest Wednesday night showed a crowd shouting up at the residents inside an apartment complex.

Give up your house,” an activist shouted into a megaphone.

“Give black people back their homes. You’re sitting there comfortably — comfortable as f*** as if you didn’t help gentrify this neighborhood."

Another person yelled, "I used to live in this neighborhood and my family was pushed out and you’re sitting up there having a good time with your other white friends.”

One protester chimed in claiming that all the residents of the neighborhood work for Amazon, which is headquartered in Seattle.

Because there’s no unified message during this BLM protest, there’s going to be a multiplicity of opinions, personalities, and odd characters.

Probably just some homeless woman with nothing better to do with her time then blame whitey for all of her misfortune.

Seems to me, it's more a case of class struggle than anything else.

Fringe left groups are going to suburbia to disturb the peace, demanding they give up their properties?

They’re doing more to campaign for Trump’s re-election than his base.

Exactly. They're probably paid by the Trump campaign, if they're actually saying that! Seattle is 7% African-American.

Not a single source that isn't far right--including you!
"Protesters marched through a residential area in Seattle last week, with one man telling white residents to “give up” their home because it is in a historically black neighborhood." "an unidentified man projects his ire toward nearby white residents — saying they are living in a historically black section of the city as another woman in the crowd yells that they should “give up” their homes, the clip shows. " One unidentified man and "another woman"!???
    Washington Examiner, Aug.17. Great reporting!

To these degenerates, if white people move to an area, it becomes gentrification. But when white people move away from an area, it’s “white flight.” LOL there’s just no winning with these lunatics

Two of the three founders of the BLM movement in 2013 claim to remain strident Marxists, so demands for confiscation or surrender and redistribution of property shouldn't surprise anyone. However, the idea of taking private property from one person and giving it to another person as private property, rather than to a collective, indicates that, at its core, it's essentially not a Marxist Utopian movement, nor a social or economic justice movement, but rather a Black separatist movement.

It's not entirely clear whether it's a Black supremacist movement overall, but there clearly is a thread of that that runs through it. Again, there should be no surprise in that. There have always been those who see as the solution to a problem of racism adding yet another layer of racism on top of it.

Reparations don't really fit within the BLM scheme, because in dismantling and abandoning all existing social institutions, there wouldn't be a framework left to collect and redistribute funds or other property in the form of reparations. Also, building a BLM coalition under the banner of People of Color is likely to fall apart once those of East Asian origin or ancestry, who are at the very top of the economic pyramid in the US, get the bill they're going to have to pay. Those who identify origin or ancestry in India (brown people from South Asia) have the highest average income level of any single national origin group in the US. Their bill for reparations is likely to be steep also.

I get the idea of thinking that the system is so corrupt and biased that it can never be fixed. It's a bold experiment and most likely would produce dismal results for just about everybody, but I understand the thinking. BLM, in addition to being a Black separatist movement, is an anarchist movement. If the perception of enough people is that policing and the entire criminal justice system is totally racist, why not simply tear it all down?

What's unusual about the BLM movement, as compared to any other Black separatist or supremacist movement over the past few hundred years that's gained much attention, is that it's focused on advancing the interests of a 13-15% minority identity group in the US. In Haiti, or in Kenya, Zimbabwe, South Africa, or elsewhere in Africa where success has been achieved, such movements to take control have always involved advancing the interests of the vast majority of people at the expense of a ruling minority identity group. This is something very different.

Yes there was success by the majority to take over from the minority, but that is as far as it goes. Now the success is for a select few to line their pockets at the expense of everyone, due to huge scale corruption. Zimbabwe and South Africa are two very good examples

Interesting that again black rights are seen as the downfall of America by the right wing. But they are not racist at all?

BLM is not suggesting people give up property as a standard policy and the reparations debate is not decided. As much as the right wing wants to it be cut and dry many black people don't see that as a good thing. They understand that it makes white people uncomfortable and that it's hard to even prove who gets what. It's not all white people so is it an ancestry check to see who owned slaves? And even then it's not the white person alive today.

Many black people today can't even trace their history to know who was a slave when in their past. They probably have a relative but it's a hard thing to track because at the time they were seen as cattle. No one writes down who the cow was related to.

Of course 6 and VG only seem black people on TV. They do not talk to them so they would not know this. They want allies not your yard. Sure some blacks would want to enslave white people with debt but other black people say they are not helping.

Such grievance mongering It meets up with denial and deflection.

Remembering when Elmhurst, Queens, NYC was Sicilian & Irish. Could not imagine that the current residents of Elmhurst be subjected to such blather by former residents.
