    Subject: Scout Camp Raided

Just heard from the scouts at the Bar-B-Que.-

Leo's, supposedly, out of Atlanta raided them two
    nights in a row--.

The first night Bro Tom, who was scouting with Val,
was awoken at midnight and given a ticket for dog off
    leash.

The second night at midnight the camp was raided and
several folks were ticketed for smoking-

The scouts have said that they are not announcing a
Spring Council Site and will announce The Gathering
    Site within 14 days.

    They are not happy campers.

The agreement is broken - The LEO's have sabotaged the
process simply by sneaking around scout council at
    midnight.

LET THE DOGS RUN AND LEASH THE TREE PIGS.

I'm getting really nervous about this year's gathering. Why can we not select a state that is a little bit on the liberal side? I'm not trying to be mean, but phamily is suffering! from LEOs and such. Thanks for the update and I hope all turns out well. <3

no spring council??imagine that,, well hell they aint no need no way, since the sight has been settled for almost a year now...

well this year we should just go ahead an give directions to next years out as everyone leaves the annual.

these charades are becoming to hard to pull off it would seem...

This was posted to AGR yesterday, 4 Jun:

"After discussions with other folks it seems Sailor is
    waaaaaay over reacting-

This was a local party place and the LEOs usually show
up - so some locals have said-?

Any way according to Val those cited said they were
being stupid and the only one who thought it was a
    targeted action was S-

I don't know, it could go either way- The first night
could have been a "normal" action, but I might be
willing to reserve judgment on the second nite-

But, at this time we should give the benefit of the
doubt as we would want it given to us.

So all those. I know, in contact with the scouts are
advising them to name a SPRING COUNSEL SITE SOON.

I would also like to offer apologies to Mark Rey and
the Forest Service for causing them apprehension.

We here in ether space are, and have been, hearing
about an awful lot of scouting activity, but I'm told
that there is not much help in the field.

So might I request that those who have been claiming
to know about sites stop waiting for the scouts to
come to them and make contact with Val, Sailor and
    team-

They are at one of two places at this time "Rock
Creek" or the "Cartney" area on the White River.

The Forest Service District Office knows were the
scouts are on a daily basses.

"2 nights in a row makes it suspicious. Did the dog
owner gain any info on the first night that the FS
    knew why they were there?"

Yes, the LEO's knew why the dog owner was there, and
his dog was off it's leash and in another camp site.
Sailer 'spoke' to the LEO's informing them, in no
uncertain terms, who and why they were there.

It's the return trip that concerns me, but as I've
said I believe we have little choice but to give the
FS the benefit of the doubt, at this time.

Thanks Turn-up, I was just getting ready to post the same info :)

Just to let folks know, while the attitudes of folks within a particular state will affect how Rainbows are treated in town, while driving to the Gathering, ect, it is the federal government who controls the leo status at a Gathering. State leos have been known to be very kind to Rainbows in some cases, like Alabama, where the state troopers were made to run the road blocks...the troopers barely glanced at driver's licenses and waved folks on thru.

I'm still in shock over EssPee's post. I'm not in the habbit of paying him much attention. Like one old greybeard hippie said, "He's our best General, and his greatest strength as a General is that most of his troops ignore him." But appologizing to USFuSS, and giving them the benefit of the doubt.....WOW! He must really be on Prozac!

I don't see that he's apologizing but yes it is shocking that he is advocating giving the fs 'benefit of the doubt'. Still, from all I've read, there may be some overreation of some peoples' parts, there was enough over-reaction at tgc. Are you getting info via arg or the e-mail side?

it seems to me like there will be a council
also i sorta suspected it sounded like a overreaction
i mean correct me if im wrong but it was just a couple tickets for minor things like dogs off leashes & sm0king
noone was arrested ..it seems like the same ol minor annoyances we allways deal with & not a "raid" as was stated

Everyone is confused! But from what I just read, yes there will be a Spring Council.

And while some things about the raid seem to be just a matter of carelessness & over-reaction; some things about it seem a little extreem....I've read 4 versions at this point, 2 from folks that were there & 2 via phone relay posting(like the info posted on this thread). It wouldn't be that big of a deal, I mean I know I used to expect to get hassled no matter where we went, just because you're going to get hassled when traveling in a multi-colored school bus; but we've found that being super kind to the leos helps a whole lot...With the scouts, the matter of scouts being hassled was discussed during a conference call or 2. I'll be posting the info on the conference calls in just a few.

LOL I see less balderdash in the .org list than I do on the google group but compared to just getting the word on the street, both AGRs just seems nuts to me...been on the web for just over 2 years & as soon as this Gathering is over, there's a lot of groups, lists, ect that I'll be unsubscribing to... because of TOA 2007, I'm subscribed to at least 3 lists, 4 yahoo groups & I do a weekly check for info at several other Rainbow sites/groups...course a lot of the info is the same stuff, but not always ....
