Where science stops, human beginnings will have a second coming. We will go back to being shamanic people hopefully very soon.
The average person is somewhat shamanic. They just drink themselves silly on weekends, to achieve some kind of social success. This has nothing to do with any real definition of shamanism. Its just the fact that substance saves. No doubt about it.
science does not deem anything as true or false, only probable or inprobable, it wouldnt be science otherwise , it would be religon
very true.. but I think most people are encouraged to see science itself as 'the truth' from an early age.. which is a shame because I think many of the more important questions asked can only be answered taking into account our lack of understanding. Life=Evolution, for example. It's probable, but without understanding the origin of life (which we may never do with our current form of logic, as we're unable to give it a measurable value), all it tells us is that things appear to change based on the environment around them. In other words, we're giving concrete values to something that cannot be concrete. I suppose that's the difference between science and religion, although I try to distance myself from either of them.
What do you mean, "believe in"? - each scientific discovery rests on its own merit - science is merely an investigative process and a rational debate about the evidence presented by that investigation. You can dispute the all aspects of the investigation and its conclusions - so part of what science is - is disbelief - therefore your disbelief is an act of scientific enquiry unless it is an entirely irrational disbelief - in which case .... you must just be winding everyone up for a laugh
Religion is based on faith. Science is based on evidence. Science is about attaining facts. It's not about probabilities. There is a significant differenece between a proof and a theory. A proof may not always be complete, but what is known, is known to be true, and can be duplicated with accuracy based on those truths. A theory is a basis for further investigation and acts as a 'logic patch' between various truths and unknowns, hopefully allowing science to progress without being restrained by the uncertainty of the theory. Religion offers no such mechanism for progressive development of the faith. Faith is unwavering, and constant. Furthermore, science does not attempt to contradict religion. In fact many of the things that religion is meant to explain, science can't, and probably never will be able to resolve either. The big question on both sides of the fence is: "If god created the heavens and the earth at the beginning of time, who created god?" or in scientific terms: "If the universe was created by a big bang, what existed before the bang?" Both questions lead to infinity, and most likely can never be resolved. Science and religion can co-exist with mutual understanding. One day in gods eyes could be an eternity. See where this is going? Fundamentalist christians accept that the universe is only a few thousand years old. Science says the universe is millions or billions of years old. Couldn't it be possible that a millenia to humans is only a day to god? If god created man in one day, and one day to god is a million years to us, I think that puts things into a little bit more perspective for both 'sects'.
What if God is only a corruption of light power. wouldn't that agree with science? As being the creator of humanity and plant and animal life?
That's an interesting sentence you have there, could you expand on what you mean by that epecially the bit about God being a corruption of light and power
Nah straight up lightpower. Power as in energy though as well. Research Akhenaten and his god the Aten. He was labelled a heretic by the later pharoahs of Egypt, because of his radical shift from a polytheistic dogmatic religion based on paying the priesthood for divination and worship of area based cult saviours. He organized the mass into one religion, with no idols only the Sun Disk it self originally, and the royal family. Later in his reign he abolished the worship of the royal family idol, and only the recognition of it.Yet he destroyed all idols of the Aten, only allowing its written word to be displayed. Similiar to Allah in Islam. However this god was not the Sun, as Ra was the Sun God. The Aten was a god of the heat and light within the sun. Showing an obviously advanced knowledge of science within the royals at the time. One ceremony he used was by leaving some spare fruit on a table while everyone gathered. They would have a procession during the day, all the while slowly watching the food rot to the energy of the sun. Proving a point of the sun's energy, and the obvious point that in a time before the lightbulp the sun was the only visible lightsource, and fire was weak at emitting alot of light. Yet in modern society, when we know energy in different densities is what keeps us and all life sustaining. The travelling of this energy between beings, begins with Light from thet Sun, and water (an energy density as well). For plants to begin the food chain, without them all lifes energy could not begin in the chaotic realm of nature. We know the power of light, by our harnessing of it somewhat for lightbulbs. Without light and energy life can't exist. Akhenaten knew this, he wanted his people to know it. He knew the ancients were not ready for such a radical scientific beleif in a time dominated by superstition, dogma, and tradition. He would therefore be the intermediary and universal teacher of this doctrine and slowly reveal more. Yet the priests did not give a shit as they were losing their jobs, and high status, and once exposed to these things human nature does not let go so quickly. This is why he was deemed a heretic. This is a major time period in Egyptian history as well. Nefertiti was his wife, which is barely known at all. Not only wsa the religion reformed, the art was changed from a classical warrior type personae to a realistic one, yet also showed esoteric symbolism. His son or nephew was also the legendary. Tutankhamen, who was originally TutankhAten. They banished Akhenaten, seeing as his sarcophagus was found empty. Smenkhare was the next Pharoah, and there is strong evidence that he was SHE. and this SHE was Nefertiti, an obvious substition as a cover up for this political coup taking place. Next come sthe boy king, who under the conspirators control deem the actions of Akhenaten as unholy, and returns the state religion to the polytheism with Amon in the lead. Then he takes a bat to the head. Then two more pharoahs rule each for a total of 7 years. Only 40 years pass between the time of Akhenaten, and the total abolishment of his royal family and dynasty. Ramses the I. Comes 40 years later. With a new state cult leader Ra, and a radical shift towards imperialism, and war dominance. Akhenaten was destroyed because he had no army to defend him. He beleived in total peace, and building art and temples. just some side facts. Therefore this got the Aten existed in literal history, with archaeological and historical evidence. A long time before Jehovah and Yahweh hit the scene, as dominant monotheistic forces. The mythical history of Judaism even RELATES the Hebrews with Egypt. So no matter how you look at it. The first official state monotheism, was Atenism. A worship of the heat and light within the sun disk. Therefore I am suggesting that the god of the bible. the monotheistic God. Was a corruption of this original force. This is usually the God, that is compared to Evolution and based on the creation myths beleived through faith. It could just be a funny coincidence though. Or just totally unrelated. The Aten was the cause of creation of all life then obviously. Funny the Old Testament God said let there be light! The first cause of everything was the creation of light. Some kind of hint as to the history they pulled their mythos from? The Aten had no commandments, had no punishemnt or reward. The Political leader would have the responsibility to do this. In the case with the aten it was Akhenaten.
Slightly hard to read, but veeeerrryy veeerrry eeenteresting. I'm not well read about the subject but that's kind of what I believe, the whole creation through energy/light. In fact I believe that's the direction where the new universal theory scientists are desperatley looking for will come from. Yeah, I know... sounds vauge.
Well a god of light and worship of the transfer of energy is the only worthwhile god science could ever admit showing gratitude for.
we all have to admit that even if we don't agree with citrus_seas at least we have a lot to answer. So far, thank you citrus_seas! But, citrus_seas, you know, we all are scientists. We cannot different. We need to contemplate, to analyse, to make decisions, to think about the decisions even if we don't want, our brain does. If we fall over, next time we wont, because we improve our steps. And thinking about what we are here on earth all together all alone, thinking of it as concentrate as possible trying not to omit any detail (scientist may call it Parameter): That's called science too.
wether u a toker or a brain stormer u a human.. human's evolve n revolve.. they rebel n retell.. blieve it or not man science is real.
maybe real in peoples minds man? "but what science is reality (is reality reality ? science as i see it is destruction .........scientist sez lets squirt some of this shit in a dogs eyes (for whatever reason ) when answers with mother nature ...........all scientists do is try and prolong the agony . i am of spirit not science .man when yer numbers up its up .end of
have"nt got time with a scientific explanation (for what its worth ).this spirits goin for a bevy ......cheers
Science is a way of discovering things by hypothesis/experiementation/analysis and then hypothesis again. Religion in many ways seeks to discover the same things as science but is not science because of the way its does it. Although theologists have tried to use science to prove the existance of god and vice versa. It always amuses me when people try to use science to prove/disprove a god, but thats another thread. Chemistry is another example, that became separate from alchemy by the use of scientific method. Particularly in the life sciences where living things maybe the subject of experiments there is a lot of extra ethical debate and everyone has their own opinions about that. Though outside of biology and related areas ethics rarely if ever comes up.
