Excessive use of weed promotes wisdom while the same use of alcohol guarantees ignorance. I mean, alcohol actually damages the brain, and it does so fairly fast. Marijuana has never been proven to damage the brain as alcohol has.

Alcohol is one of the biggest immediate problems I can see with western civilization, along with poor diet and a lack of understanding of deep, correct breathing. These factors all contribute to the contemporary junk culture that has swallowed up so many of the ignorant masses.

Compare the IQ of the average college pot smoker to the average college kid who only drinks and I think the pothead would score much, much higher. It's a drug that leads to knowledge and sophistication. Self awareness. Booze leads to just accepting your flaws and moving on, unhealthy and dangerous to those around you.

I'll side with the lazy pot smokers over the ignorant drunkards any day.

How can you give a joint to a bullshitter who says excessive weed causes wisdom?

you can test that yourself.. take an iq test while sober then take another iq test (on a different website) when high. I bet you'll score at least 20 points less when your stoned. try it yourself. I did and it's true.

^wisdom has nothing to do with an IQ Test, buck-o.
but yeah, I dont think weed really makes anyone smarter, I think it all has to do with the user himself. I mean, in my case, I DO think that weed has made me question many things, and have curiousity about lots of stuff, and sometimes, you know when you have that great high, and its a beautiful summer night and youre just chilling with your frriends, and you realize how wonder the world is and you take it all in....

i think thats what he meant.

I guess we don't use weed the same way, because when I am high I make startling revelations all the time about myself and my environment. I am an extremely creative person but I always had a hard time concentrating on things around me. I'd walk around on "auto pilot" all the time, never focusing on the then and now. My thoughts were always distant to my reality.

Then I got into pot. When I'm high, everything becomes so vivid, so immediate and real. I can use the full strength of my brain to grasp just about any concept or theory that is provided to me. And I rarely miss anything. Any movement or sound, any shift in feeling or energy in a room, any patterns or thing out of place, I am aware of. My appreciation for aesthetics, not just music but the visual arts as well, goes through the roof. This appreciation did not leave after I sobered up. I've enjoyed a complete shift in my thoughts, and now I can concentrate and appreciate the details of the then and now.

Here's another point: all of us have our blind spots. Those areas where, regardless of our intelligence, we fail to grasp concepts or see things that may be obvious to a stranger. Like how some people who are clearly gay can convince themselves that they are straight and are attracted to women. Pot allows me to see those blind spots as it cuts right through whatever haze of defense mechanisms I have up.

I have learned that I had a negative outlook toward myself for the longest time and pot let me recognize it and then work on it. I have no need for therapy with marijuana and the increased self awareness it brings to me. Why pay someone to diagnose me when I can do it myself?

It's too bad that you think I'm full of shit, because you could learn a lot about yourself too if you learned to meditate and turn your thoughts inward while stoned (not just high as in a body high, but "broken through to the other side" stoned).

Pot is there to be used as a learning tool and self help aid if you approach it with that intent. Open your mind up a little, and realize that just because someone offers something that is strange and unorthodox to you, it doesn't mean they are full of shit or trying to pull your chain.

I'm for real, I'm not here to waste my time or anyone else's with bullshit. Life is too short and precious to mislead people and I just don't get my kicks that way. I'd rather open the eyes of others to the power of weed, a power that many habitual users are COMPLETELY unaware of.

PS That reminds me, I don't advocate daily smoking unless you have a shit ton of resources. You need to get pretty stoned, not just high, to be able to effortlessly cut through your own barriers and see yourself for who you really are. If you want to open up that third, and more objective, eye on a regular basis, you need to keep your tolerance down.

Lame post.. umm Im far from ignorant, actually Im educated (BS in Psych) and Im legal (23 years old) and I hate liquor. It is responsible for the breakup of countless families, the deaths of many, and the suffering of even more. I'd go on, but your probably too ignorant to even understand.

I was talking specifically about " excessive pot makes you wiser" that is utter bullshit.

plus imo weed offers you what could be considered a magnifying lense that allows you to scrutenize yourself, but only yourself nothing like grasping new theories or concepts.

pot only teaches you 2 things

1- more about yourself (which is quite useless and soemtimes even bad for you) which leads to...
    2- paranoia

and btw you just contradict yourself when first you say gotta keep your tolerance down to achieve that state your talking about coz that wouldnt be using excessivly.

PS: are you implying pot makes you gay?

I never said that excessive pot use makes you wiser, just that someone who smokes a lot will be better off than someone who drinks a lot (headed towards their death). I always argue in favor of responsible pot use, a few times a week at most.

BTW it's not the pot that makes you wiser, it's not some magic elixer or anything. The pot just helps you to get there by allowing you to take a shortcut through all the barriers you've put up. See your mind puts up all kinds of filters to help you deal with daily life without things getting confusing and pot eliminates them for awhile, allowing you to see the true state of things which is handy for learning about anything.

Judging by your naive stance on self discovery, you have many barriers that still need to be knocked down. I think you'll do alright, if you keep an open mind and refuse to back down from the truth. Self discovery is an uncomfortable process but you need to do it to become a fully functional human being who thinks for himself. You may believe that you think for yourself already but if you actually think self discovery is a negative journey, you still have a lot to learn.

As for pot making you gay, you need to reread my post and understand that it was just an example of how unaware many people are of themselves.
