Hi I'm Nicole. Joined here to see if I could chat about Iron Butterfly and maybe seek opinions on some stuff in life I am experiencing since the Covid Crisis. I am currently self-employed. I rebuild transmissions in my garage. I am at a crossroads in my life and could use some new friends and acquaintances to bounce ideas off of. In regard to Iron Butterfly, I am 39 and come from a family of rock and roll musicians. I have been into psychedelic music since I was about 8 or nine. Never did anyone in my life play In-A-Gadd-Da-Vida full version for me. I got involved listening to horribly depressing stuff like Floyd, Jim Morrison, and Janis at a very young age. I have reason to believe these influences have hindered my happiness throughout my life. I was curious if there was anyone who may agree with this or would like to discuss it. I heard Iron Butterfly a little over a month ago and their music has improved my state of mind immensely. I can't help but wonder who I would have become had I listened to Butterfly rather than all these depressed, bleeding-heart suicide bands of the 60's and early 70's. Recently, I learned that I have been in a relationship with a narcissist, and I am at a complete loss. Yes, this is my current reality. So, hello everyone. Forming a New Day, one morning at a time. Yes that was an Iron Butterfly pun
Welcome from Eugene, Oregon. Disagree with your opinion about the "depressing bands", but no matter. First time I took acid in 1969, I was listening to In a gadda da vida by myself in the dark at a strangers house in Hawaii. Needless to say ---it holds a special place in my musical listening life!
Saw Iron Butterfly in concert about 20 years ago. Have been a fan since their first album Heavy in 1968. I might have had it on 4 track cassette.
Welcome Nicole. I have no idea what Iron Butterfly is, but it's not surprise since I'm from another world.
Good morning Nicole darlin' and welcome from this ancient, decrepit crinkly. Am also 'ancient' in my taste in music as I'm a classical music and in particular, Opera fan.
Hello and welcome! Sure sounds like you've got a lot on your plate, so to speak. (I'm in south-central Connecticut.)
