Goodun!!! REM The Beatles The White Stripes Neil Young Thea GIlmore Aimee Mann Emma Rugg The Libertines The Coral Coldplay George Harrison Franz Ferdinand Razorlight Joss Stone That be all for now loverlies
At the risk of sounding all sniffy and elitist... Push the boat out a bit, I'm sure there are some people somewhere who haven't heard of the Beatles, but I suspect they aren't on this forum, on account of having died sometime in the 19th century.
Not obviously enough, it would seem. Neil Young has some really obsessive fans, worseso than the Smiths.
Righto .. OK.. Sure I know I shall modify me list REM - I had the fortunate experience to see REM at Glastonbury last year and will be seeing them again in July. They have been around since the 80s and are still going strong with their political views. My favourite song be 'The One I Love' as it holds special Glastonbury mmories. The have just released their new album! The White Stripes - Very very popular a couple of years ago and in my eyes they still are the best band of the 00's. The band contain ex husband and wife / brother and sister Meg and Jack White and two instruments... drums and guitar ... even the bass line of 'Seven Nation Army' was performed on lead guitar and not bass. I have also seen this band and that was at my first Glastonbury in 2002. I highly recommend all the albums but De Jistl (sp) is my fave Neil Young - I grew up with the music of Neil Young thanks to my dad. I always remember him playing 'Harvest Moon' which is a highly recommemded album! My favourite tracks inclue 'Heart of Gold', 'Old King', 'One of these Days' and 'This Notes For You'. He was also 1/4 of Crosby, Stills and Nash! Thea GIlmore - An amazing female artist from Oxford! She has a voice of an anglel but he words are full of filth and hatred. She is 26 year old and has released 5/6 albums! I have heard most of them and they are fantastic! I have seen her live twice and she is amazing. I highly recommend you download some tracks and have a long listen to her words. www.theagilmore.com Aimee Mann - I have only just got into her. She is famous for singing the soundtrack to Magnolia and performing at 'The Bronze' in 'Buffy' Loverly voice. I have the album 'I'm With Stupid' I have yet to hear more. Emma Rugg - Beautiful solo artist from Hull. Yet to make it big she has paid for and recorded her debut album. Beautiful, soothing, and alive with emotions. Emma is a talented artist and is set to go places. www.emmarugg.com The Libertines - Crazy manic and just plain geniuses! The Libertines will make you dance and jump around like a loon! Despite their problems with member Pete Doherty they have released two legendry albums. I recommend them both as they are equally as good. I have seen them 3 times (once with Pete!). I recommend you go and see them with or without Pete! THEY'LL ROCK YOUR SOCKS OFF! The Coral - Coming from Liverpool these beauties have had 2 albums and 1 mini album. In my opinon the first is the best. With upbeat songs that will make you dance and sing along. You can't go wrong. 'Dreaming of you' is a fantastic song! Coldplay - I love the Coldplay. FAnastic everything! What more can be said!?! Nothing. 'Parachutes' and 'A Rush of Blood to the Head'! George Harrison - FANTASTIC! (please read my piece about him in the homework that I set .. it is a 'sticky' thread, thank you) Franz Ferdinand - Marching music! You just try listening to 'Take me out' without Stomping! Razorlight - They have the 'GOlden Touch' and a fantastic album! Check them out! Joss Stone - From Devon, 17 year old, played TWICE at Glastonbury and always performs without shoes on.. oh and she is beautiful! amazing voice and amazing everything! Fiona Apple - I have only just got into her and I think she is really good! The Streets - Poetry is what I think they are and pure class geniuses! Mike Skinner is the man! The Wurzels - Hailing from Somerset and have a Combine Harvister... what more can be said?! Thats iyt for now.. maybe
Listen you, no one likes a walking spellchecker! When you're in Cambridge, then I'll let you pick me up on my spelling
Well i heard Rod stewart and Tina turner on the TV last night ....and liked what i heard . In about 10 years i might just be able to go into a record store and buy their music and not feel like everyone is looking at me
Aha a fellow music snob! Yes it is sniffy and elitist... unfortunately hippies may have liberal politics but often have very conservative music taste... Rod Stewart indeed...
it's not that, it's just that recommending that someone listen to the Beatles is pointless; it's like if someone asked you to recommend a new food for them and you said "Bread".
