you are right, if the user is stupid enough than s/he can bring down a Linux easily ,

the reason i publish my little plea to convert to Linux is out of idealogical reasons (though i still think that linux is superior to windows as an OS , but that is not my point)
talking about anti capitalism and fighting corporations is meaningless , action is needed and not in the form of demostrations . you can scream death to capitalism till the cows come home but if at the end of the day , you go home and drink a coke, watch 'friends' , order a Pizza Hut and plan your next trip to a resort hotel in the Bahamas then you are part of the reason why capitalism rules todays world. (i'm using 'you' in a general way , not refering to 'sentient')
its the consumers who make capitalism go round ,not the corporations. the corporations are just the result of our lust for comfort and general lazyness.
you want to change our consumer oriented materialistic society , you must start with yourself .
not using MS products and supporting Open Souce community based software is just a small step in bringing down the dominator culture , but it is an important step because IT is the technology of the future and it's best if its kept in the hands of the people rather than at the hands of a corporation

Linux support puts companies like Blackberry in a corner because they generally must release the source code because Linux servers run from so many different architectures (like sparc, ppc, i386, etc). This means that OTHER companies can see the secrets that Blackberry has in the programming code. Besides, Linux is so flexible. Why would Blackberry or whoever want their users to be flexible or free to change source code. For example, Blackberry may caiter their software to a company system under a contract that cost the serving company money... but if that serving company had Linux then they could save money by using their own programmers or possibly outsourcing. But their are other complications too.

i can support this. everytime somebody uses Windows they ran a redlight.

I'm sorry for joining the thread half way in, but I'd just like to make quick post saying that anyone can install Ubuntu - It is so easy, and the guys at the Ubuntu forums are so helpful.

For anyone who's unsure about installing it; try installing a dual boot first, it's just as easy as installing Windows.

Do you own a car? lol. If you turn your car off without using the ignition switch, something's up....

I firmly beileve that if near as many people used any program outside of windows, that program would face the same issues, possibly worse. If you wish to argue that, feel free. Other programs have some serious issues within the level of popularity they're currently at, what do you suppose would happen if another 30 million installed? haha..

why dont you elaborate the reason you make this claim. i am interested to know why you think Microsoft programs are better. i know it isnt the programming language because not even that knows how to manage memory. haha...

so enlighten me with your advanced programming knowlege and explain the technical explaination to me. k? haha...

It could be a hardware problem either way you maybe should do some tests to check if it is not damaged.

Microsoft code is badly, badly written. Microsoft is so concerned about getting their products out the door that instead of rewriting software to make it more efficient they just add sloppy code onto old sloppy code. Linux software is much, much better coded. Simple reason, the people coding it love to code. They're doing it for free. If they're already doing it for free what's the point in rushing. They write damn good code and that's a fact. And if it's not good code, you can bet it'll be good code within a few days.

    http://www.noooxml.org/

Now Microsoft is trying to enforce its own broken ooxml format as a world standard . Read the info and sign the petition if you agree.

    That's pretty sick.

Both Sun Microsystems (Star/OpenOffice) and IBM (Lotus Symphony) have office products that use the OpenOffice Document format. These two groups were denied the right to vote on purpose. I doubt they intended to let them vote because OpenOffice Document format would have won.

Technically speaking, the two formats are equal in quality. It's just that OpenOffice had it first, then M$ stole the idea and left their ugly mark on it (again).
