ok, i was thinking even if 12/12 worked fine and well that at the very minimum 1 week of veg couldnt hurt anything, and really two, three, four weeks isnt much more time in the long run if it really substantially benefits me.
mmm....wish i could get good results in a closet with little ventilation other than a fan and opening a door a couple times during the "daytime" too broke to buy equipment dont think i'll get results before the dead of winter at this rate
so...........do you think i might be able to get the rest of what i need for 300 dollars, including materials for the tent/box, tools i might need (i have none), pots and soil? if so, i'd probably be the happiest guy i know, but i'd need some direction and advice, i guess
i think you would definately be able to finish the grow box with $300 if you already have the bulb+ballast. about $130 for all the ventilation equiptment(qouting M4N on the price) $50 for flat white paint, timer, duct tape...shit like that for the soil and pots...that depends on how much plants you are growing...lets say...25 Litres of soil a plant...a 25Litre bag of soil is about $8 here(in Australia). so times how many plants you have by 8 and that how much soil will be. lets say 10 plants...$80 for soil that leaves about $40 for pots...bagpots aren't very expensive, you could get heaps of them for $40. from what ive heard... weed plants WON'T flower until they are sexually mature, wich is about 3-4(it may be less or more) weeks into veg. so you may aswell give them 18 hours of light in veg until they are sexually mature and able to flower. i had a plant outside that was getting 12/12 its whole life, and it vegged for about 4 weeks until it flowered, so i think what i heard is right. the plants have to be sexually mature before they can flower
yer...maybe i overestimated a little bit the amount of soil needed per plant:tongue: but how much soil would be needed for a 4-5Foot flowering plant? ahhh, i didn't realise that u needed to buy the cab/tent+tools. you should be able to get a second hand set of drawers or a cupboard for pretty cheap at a second hand shop(or whateva there is where u live). garage sales are good to.
M4N: how did those 4 footers in the 2gal pots do? about the grow cab/tent, i think a cupboard or a set of drawers(if u don't want to cut the drawers down, you can always just take them out and use some of that panda plastic to seal off tha open wall) would be alot better than a tent. 1: its already assembeled(unless u buy one u gotta build) 2: as M4N said, the cab will run u the same price as the tent, so why not buy the cab and save yourself the trouble of setting the tent up and getting the tools and shit 3:how the fuck do u hang lights etc in a tent anyways...we should get back on topic...SATORI GROW...updates today WOOT
Aphids! Death to them. I used to be at war with fungus gnats! Gnatrol and sticky yellow traps! Be back Monday for a pic check and drool! ->Duck season opens tomorrow!!
yeah, i was thinking of going with a tent. if i can construct the frame with pre-cut sections of PVC piping then i will need pretty much no tools other than a pair of scissors and a lot of duct tape! i like the idea of getting a wooden floor for it with wheels to make it more mobile, but honestly i'm not sure i could get a 4'X4'X6' tent on wheels full of lights and plants and stuff to roll out of my closet anyway, so i dont figure its a necessity. besides, the only reason i'd need to move it is in an emergancy, and there would be no better place in the apartment for it anyway. if something needs to happen to make it not where it normally is, it will mean i need it completely out of here - in which case the pvc skeleton is ideal, as it will require little effort to dissassemble i am kind of concerned about the....unusual....nature of a garden apartment resident carrying soil and piping and big rolls of stuff into his place...but i did just move in and still have a lot of moving boxes, and could easily save one of the bigger ones to reconstruct and put, empty, in my car, to fill with the bags of soil, piping, and other unusual items for an apartment tenant to need so that it will look like i'm just carrying another box of clothes or something in. i'm just super paranoid....luckily i was able to mix the light, reflector, cord set and ballast in with all my clothing and such on the way in, so no suspicious looking "extra sun ballast" boxes and such to carry in in plain sight.... anyway....im thinking if i can just get the piping to construct the frame, it would just be a matter of duct taping up the material. one BIG issue i have with the tent concept does exist though. how do i make an airtight door???
Hey nesta I don't think your door has to be absolutely airtight. The fan in the tent will create negative pressure, so air will only be pulled in through any tiny seams in the door, not pushedout. As long as the air being sucked out goes through a scrubber then you won't have to worry bout smell.
good to know! but i'd still like it to be as secure as possible. guess i could just make a velcro seal though....
