Hmmm thx Aerianne. My family is vegetarian, but maybe I could make that sometime when I'm home alone. ;)

    That's cheating!

We used to attend a messianic-Jewish church years ago. I was part of the worship leadership - played my guitar up front and led the congregation in singing in Hebrew, and did some of the ceremonial readings. Baruch atah adonai eloheinu, melech ha'olam...blessed are you oh lord our God, ruler of the universe...

It's just really good to be familiar with it. It pervades our culture and literature, so it's good to know what the hell people are talking about when they quote from the Bible. And in all seriousness, there's some damn good spiritual stuff in there too...but so much of it is almost in a kind of code, very hard to decipher. The most perfectly condensed spiritual teachings are in the Sermon on the Mount - Matthew, chapters 5 through 7. Pithy stuff.

It is very restrictive and I'm a free spirit.

I wanted to experience it for several reasons and one of those is that my 2nd great grandmother was a jew. It's in my blood and I wanted to understand it.

It's a beautiful religion but I think it's hard to apply the observances in today's world. It's said that the reason for the law is to set the people apart from the rest of the world and I can see how it works to do that.

The New Testament take on it is that the purpose of the Law is to show us that we can't be perfect. Trying to be perfect is an ego goal, and the ego is what we need to overcome. Thus the New Testament doctrine of forgiveness. We need to let go of any aspirations for "goodness," and accept God's love for us no matter who we are or what we are. Jesus said he was the fulfillment of the Law. He came to show us the perfection of God's love.

Damn, I'm going all evangelical again, after all these years. :D It's just that I've learned more about Christianity since leaving the church than I ever understood when I was a stinkin pillar of church "leadership." And I think you might have an idea of what I'm talkin about, Aerianne. :)

I'll do you, Chrissy. :) I like drunk babes. And I won't wear plaid, I promise.

    Yes.

My kilt wearers look something like this with no tassels and no plaid.

So then...you're saying that exact same pic, only with plaid kilt instead of goth, would be a total turnoff? Well I suppose the guitar would need to be plaid too, so as to match. :D

I think that's due to their short hair and clean-shaven faces - am I getting this wrong? :D
