For a big bottle (that looks very nice n pretty, btw) it's $17 and it has 40 % APV. Has anyone tried it? Is it good? I dont think I would like beer that's quite so strong and it's so expensive it would be like buying a bottle of liquor. I would try it though if someone had so me.
This is a limited edition beer that Sam Adams put out just this year for Valentines Day. It was first introduced back in January, I believe. I bought a big 750 ml. bottle of it back in March. It was pretty good for being made by Sam Adams. I don't think it was quite worth the price, though. However, I can tell you one thing; it's not 40% ABV, not even close. The strongest beer in the world is actually made by Sam Adams, but it's their Utopias, and that is 25% ABV. I can't even imagine a beer being much higher than that. The Sam Adams Chocolate Bock is 5.6% ABV. I even looked on Beer Advocate to make sure I hadn't gone insane.
well, then... the sub shop i went to lied then or are retarded because they have a sign saying it's 40% APV right beside the bottle. WTF?!
They probably just don't know what they're talking about. I don't see why they would lie. For being only a sub shop, I wouldn't expect to find many beer experts working there. Plus, misinformation spreads so easy. All it takes is one person to say "oh dude, that stuff is 40% alcohol," and usually people go right along with it. It's kind of like some people in here who have said that Molson XXX is 11% alcohol, when in fact it's around 7%. Out of all Sam Adams' bock beers, their Double Bock is the strongest. This is around 8.5% ABV.
