true that. dali was wayyy before acid time. he is a far-out artist, but i don't think he used any chemical drugs. also, a lot of his mind-boggling paintings are really just work that he created to encompass meanings or statements that he wanted other people to realize and see too. drugs or no drugs, dali was an amazing man
Dali used to live near Cadaques... in a village called Port Lligat.. I believe his house can be visited.. he lived there till the year 1982.. when Gala died(also very eccentric lady) he moved into a castle..in Pubol..near Palafrugell.. I've travelled few times too Spain... did a big trip in Spain in early seventies.. went again to Barcelona..but did not make it to Figueras.. if I cross there again..I'll visit.. thanks,Columbo...for the information... No problem - BTW I forgot to mention that if you go to the chrurch at the very top of the hill overlooking Cadaques some of Dalis works which he gave to the church can be seen there. I believe that whenever he painted for the church a procession attended by many dignitaries around the area would be held, and at the head of the procession would be his painting held high for everyone to see. Although they are quite small paintings they still show that Dali cared for that community and he (and the memories of him) are worshipped there - he apparently was on first name terms with many people there, not just the wealthy citizens. The Village is beautiful in in its own right and an excellent place to swim and go snorkelling.
YOOO DALI DID TAKE DRUGS, he took a lot of hallucinogens, ACID for sure, go to wikipedia, look it up!
Dalí was on Freud. Freud is a weird drug that tries to shrink you. Basically Dalí interpreted his dreams using Freudian methods, and then painted them.
