I think the saddest songs of mine include 1967 don mclean tears in heaven clapton autumn leaves eva cassidy i know u by heart eva cassidy my definite all time is a song by chett atkins (was the best guitarist in nashville) and he performed a song called i still cant say goodbye dedicated to his dad. this is the worlds saddest song!!!
the only song that's ever made me cry, isn't actually sad. when i was little i use to cry whenever i heard "puff the magic dragon" because i didn't know what it really was about and i thought the little boy died and the dragon was left all alone, mourning over his only friend. i felt so bad for the dragon...
From Puccini's La Fanciulla.. actually any Puccini is pretty sad..
hehe I remember when I was little there was a song that would make me cry every single time i herd it.. It was that song, Somewhere out there, that was on the first Fievel movie..only when he sang it though..hehehe But yeah, I have to agree that Tears in Heaven, is a very sad song..
so many sad songs out there but the two that makes me cry are when the tigers broke free by pink floyd and nothing compares 2 u sung by sinead o conner
Drugs Don't Work by Ben Harper. One of the saddest songs I have ever heard, yet so beautiful. Also, of course Pink Floyd's Wish you were here
Tango In Harlem by Touch & Go (especially one part of it) I'm Not In Love by 10 CC What Can I Do by Smokie BTW, does anyone know Smokie? They used to be very popular here so it's surprising to me that many people don't know this band. The same is about Slade
wa happened? i thought this was a great thread then everybody stopped posting on it. too bad start posting again!
A couple that I find sad: Syd Barrett - "Opel" This song because when I hear Syd trying to sing out these notes about how he is "living and giving to find you" it just kills me. All I can think of is his eventual break down and it saddens me. The Zombies - "Butcher's Tale (Western Front 1914)" This one because it's about WWI and describes the death of a friend. It says that he hung on the wire and flies came down and covered him up...
As many other people said, mine is "In my life" by the Beatles. "Sound of Silence" and "Sparrow" by Simon and Garfunkel "Full of Grace" by Sarah McLachlin "Perfect", "Joining you", "I was hoping", and "Uninvited" by Alanis Morissette. "Wildfire" by Michael Martin Murphy (oldie that I grew up on) "Leaving on a jet plane" by Peter Paul and Mary "Seasons in the sun" by Terry Jacks "While my guitar gently weeps" by the Beatles, and for some odd reason "I'm looking through you" gets me too, maybe its the whole mourning because someone you thought would always be there has changed. tons of the songs from the Lord of the Rings movies make me cry a ton. Music is the best healer.
I'm gonna have to say "Better off Dead" by Bad Religion because the entire message of the song is life sucks so kill yourself and get it over with. or "The Last Kiss" by AFI cause heroin is a sad sad thing.
