well I think it sucks, but according to that article they didn't get the permit. If thats true, I'm sure the state and local government jumped on that excuse to go in.

Yeah, the rave act was one hell of a blow to freedom. We tried to fight it but the propoganda matrix won out (is that a surprise with so many attached to that daily feed from the umbilical?) The reason it should be ok to have an event in Utah is because it happens to lie within the borders of the US. That used to mean something. Several years ago I too had a front seat to the kinds of things that happen, same shit, tear gas, dogs, billy clubs, you name it all on a bunch of people just having a good time, nothing more. Same too, no news, no coverage, complete blackout. This kind of bullshit happens all the time. The time is coming when the fence sitters need to make a decision. Really.

 

wtf is the matter with people these days.....people are looking to have a good time at and put their money into attending the event ....yet the cops come and...well be cops, (assholes) and ruin it, keeping our freedoms to a bear minumum

i'm pretty sure this 1, they got screwed on , they commented about having "ropes" at the entrance, but setting up a fence big enough an strong enough, to comply with city code would have been a bit pricey, with that said, no permit would have been issued if they failed to meet the minimum facilities code. lotta rules,too many if you ask me but they are clear and available, does that give the cops the right to bust them? sure it's all they needed, does it justify their actions? no!, do i believe the innocent attendees broke the law? no of course not ,they went to what they believed was a well organized,an legal "all permits in order" event. do i believe there were illegal activities?ie: taking drugs,alcohol consumption by minors, hell yes ! not by all but we all know it was going on. do i care? no , have fun always been my motto . i too have promoted big event's "big enough to require permits" no not a rave party, but still pretty much in the same guidelines .it is a pain in the arse, but what'ya gonna do?

 

The Constitution clearly forbids the use of the military in Law Enforcement involving civilians. I do believe its refered to as Posse Comitatus(spelling anyone?) This action is also a clear violation of freedom of assembly,speech and press.


The ACLU is gonna have a field day with this one.

Lets see, lawsuits against the local government and law enforcement,state law enforcement and goverment and the Utah National Guard.

I've been to plenty of parties that've been shut down. The lights come on, the music gets turned off, and everyone goes home. There's usually a couple of officers where the cars are parked making sure people aren't driving home that shouldn't be, and there are a few cops making sure everybody is leaving. I've never seen police show up in full body armor, wearing gas masks, toting assault rifles, and using dogs to intimidate innocent-until-proven-guilty people.

I've seen lots of drugs at parties. I've seen people having sex, and I've seen guns one solitary time. I've seen way more of all those at the clubs downtown. I've seen more at any rock concert I've ever been to. I saw all those things at my high school in the sticks, in the bible belt, no less. That should not be the issue.

These guys have a new website up, www.music-verses-guns.org and they've made a much more detailed statement than the other I posted earlier. Most peoples questions have been addressed, such as the issue with the permits and the specific state law in question. They weren't inexperienced promotors. They've got legal representation now, and the media has been contacted. There's been some coverage, and the media is at least open to the other side of the story. I think they've done quite a lot in the few days it's been since this happened.

 

I believe the initial reports of the national guard involvement were incorrect. It was only the police in full riot gear, thus the confusion.

 

they did have a permit. and when the promoter went to show it to the police saying, "we have a permit", they took it and said..."no you dont"
there is quite the papertrail proving they did however....for one thing it was purchased with a creditcard, lol.

i had a lot of freinds there that night, and its created quite an uproar in our local scene.

This is unprovoked assault [violence], deceit and intentional destruction of evidence on the part of "peace officers." Clearly this is a 'crooked' attempt to vilify Ravers in order justify and cover-up this preverted, dangerous and destructive 'venting' behavior on the part of these "peace officers." We need peace officers to act honorably and in support of the spirit of our laws. I am pleased that some of the video got past the obvious efforts at destruction of evidence. We are in bad times in this country and in our world; lawlessness is being influenced from individual resistance to relaization and change, and from examples provided from our leaders; no one is above the law. Our constitution is in danger, in part, because of "win at any cost," "shoot from the hip, ask questions later," and other, attitudes that are propogated from our leaders. Indirectly terrorists are presently winning in this area because they evoked the morally, mentally, weaker of us to act in reactionary and fascistic ways; limiting and destroying our freedoms. I concur with BTM and others in their questioning, "why is this not in the main-stream news yet ?"
