Ugh, used to like the spicy hummus they made. Off to find some non GMO hummus. Love hummus though. What is your favorite brand?
Apparently Athenos is suspect too but better than Sabra. From what I have read, "Baba Foods brand" hummus seems to be the best. A lot of hummus does not use oilve oil (whaaa?) like Sabra which I find odd. Though I guess they want to be cheap..who knows. Sabra is owned by pepsi co as far as I know.
Speaking of hummus... any one ever tried making it themselves? I can't get to taste good I have been buying it at Wegman's Mediterranean bar.
Hummus is super easy to make.... Chickpeas n tahini Olive oil n lemon juice N other stuff can be added like cayenne n garlic
I can't get it to taste like anything but lemon, so I have been mixing the tahini in with my homemade peanut butter :juggle: I will have to experiment more.
a pinch of baking soda with the chickpeas while you're cooking them helps them break down easier and it comes out smoother
Everyone makes their own choices. I won't make fun of you for making your own choice and deciding to eat GMO laden food. I would hope I could get the same in return. But there is a reason why many countries have banned them or try to boycott GMO laden products from countries such as the USA..
^^^ I'm a no-soy, clean eating, organic, non-gmo vegetarian (almost vegan). I get made fun of by friends and family constantly. I never push my views on anyone else, and really give zero fucks what food decisions others make though.
I am not trying to push my ideas on anyone, did it seem like I was? Just informing those who might want to know. Because I had no clue Sabra had GMO ingredigents and I am sure others maybe did not know. So just an fyi post for those who would like to know. Cedar's hummus is superior in my mind. No Gmo, slightly cheaper, and they use oilve oil. Plus it just tastes better to me.
I've never made my own hummus but I bought the ingredients for it the other day to do it. It seems super easy and much more cost effective. I'll probably make it tomorrow...I'm going to attempt some homemade naan tomorrow too. I'm not 100% sure but I think Sabra is the brand I usually buy so this thread has been informative, thanks!
do a google search to see how much baking soda to use, i swear it helps so much (unless you're using canned chick peas).
