after studying eastern religions such as buddhism and hinduism, I got such a better understanding of christianity than what i had before. so maybe this archbishop could benefit from actually learning about the reigions around him.

If you read the bhagavatam, there is no mention of breast pinching. Nor did he steal the clothes of married women. That statement is absolutely false. The chir haran lila involved the young girls who were performing katyayani archana in order to pray to get Krishna as a husband.

Again, the rasa lila was not sexually laden. It is described as a dance of conquest of desire, not a dance of desire. The description in bhagavatam is that he danced and the women danced to the flute music. Even Yashoda was involved in it.

I am sure there are those whose minds are not capable of understanding the concept, being soaked in sexuality. However, when it comes to facts, go to the primary source.

You know Bhaskar, I get the impression that some would like to see Krishna as a kind of 'sex god'. The inner meaning of the stories is therefore lost or not seen.

The Rasa Dance seems to symbolize the eternal relation between the Jiva and God.Or the 'rasa', the 'flavour' of a particular mode of devotion. The love of the Gopis for Krishna is spiritual love, expressed through the dance -

It's good that eastern thought has opened your mind.
In the case of the Archbishop, I doubt he will open his mind. To get to be head of such an established hierarchy as the Orthodox Church means all his descisions were made long ago.
What's interesting is the way the church in Russia has gone from being the opressed and un-tolerated thing it was under the Soviets, to now being a force of oppression and intolerance itself. Maybe they feel a need to 'flex their muscles' after a long period on the margins.

Yes it is an easy excuse to justify their own lust and convince themselves that it is spiritual.

The rasa can be seen in many ways. All the gopis dancing around Krishna is like all the thoughts dancing around the one divine consciousness.

Later on, Krishna took a separate form to dance with each gopi. Then you can see that with each thought consciousness is reflected.

It can be meditated upon in various ways, a rich playground for the contemplative mind.

Ahh, but Krishna is beautiful. The picture you posted the other night (of Sri Krishna) has a beautiful resemblance to a 'certified companion' (Geisha) in a show I had been watching (right around the time you posted the picture). Sex, I hear our Love say it to me.

Ha ha - well in the Gita Krishna says any attractive thing is attractive only because it embodies some of His complete attractiveness. As the Upanishad says too, the qualities of the Brahman are distributed everywhere.

The trouble is that with the stories of Krishna's Lila, if a person only sees a sexual interpretation, they miss the real meanings, which are multiple in many instances.
I'm not against sex, I just think that it's a misinterpretation of these particular stories to see them in a sexual light.

You mean 'only in a sexual light'?
