Rules for garden sauna

Just finished building a log cabin at the end of the garden and set it up with a sauna and spa tub. Wife insists that we should be naked when we use it. But what rules should we make for guests?

 

My simple answer is your spa / your rules. Personally my rule would be clothing optional for guests, but I will be nude.

 

Rules who needs rules.
Whatever makes guests comfortable.

Small electric sauna heater for the sauna. Spa next door has a plug and play pump and heater. In between the two you would be at the mercy of the outdoor temperature as the cabin does not have thick walls, but then the changes in temperature getting in, out and about will be all part of enjoying the sensations!

 

I am shopping for a sign that says something like "Abandon clothes all thee who enter here". But you and Candy Gal are right, we should probably let our guests choose what they are comfortable with. Maybe alcohol will help them be brave?

 

We have thought about getting hot tub, but have been told that the running costs in these days where energy prices have rocketed make it very expensive to run.

Might just have to wait for that lottery win!

For anyone thinking of doing the same thing here is a link to the sauna heater I chose...{Links removed} It is electric but you put stones on top of the heating elements. These stones absorb and radiate the heat, evaporating the water you sprinkle on them. But convection is also important to carry the steamy hot air around the whole space. I created a vent in the far corner to encourage the circulation.

Tell you will both be naked sat on a towel. They have the choice to be naked or not, though should also always be sat on a towel.

 

The owner establishes the rules for use of their sauna and/or hot tub. It is generally expected one is nude when using the equipment. At the minimum wrapped in a towel. You can provide guests with extra large towels to ease their modesty fears. Generally though it is best to be nude as the activity, much like bathing, is a cleansing process. Just explain how you use the equipment and let guests make their own decision for their comfort level. Below is how we used our sauna and hot tub. Our rules were gleaned from Finnish sauna etiquette.

How to Use a Sauna

1. Undress.
2. Take a shower.
3. Go to sauna naked or with a towel covering your privates.
4. Relax in the sauna to your comfort level. Expect others to be nude if they desire.
   
5. Cool off outside in a shower, pool, pond, lake, or ambient air.
6. Repeat as many times as you want.
7. Always shower after use.

How to Use a Hot Tub

1. Undress.
2. Take a shower.
3. Go to the tub naked, in swimwear, or with a towel covering your privates.
4. Relax in the water to your comfort level. Expect others to be nude if they desire.
5. Cool off outside in a shower, pool, pond, lake, or ambient air.
6. Repeat as many times as you want.
7. Always shower after use.

 

I don't see how this is even a question. You must prepare them by informing them that you normally are nude. The you must ask them if they are OK with your nudity. Finally, you should invite them to also go nude if they so choose. These are your guest not prisoners! Second by not doing these things you could be in some very serious legal trouble! Lets just start with indecent exposure!

 

Unfortunately, here in California it's extremely illegal to expose your genitals to a unexpecting guest and even worse if they are offended by it. But so long as you get their permission then you are allowed to be nude. Americans are so uptight about nudity!!! Like our nude beach is not legal at all there are signs posted yet thousands go to it nude on a summer day. Most American kids and adults that see a nude person immediately think the worse yet seek out porn (porn that is so fake and unrealistic)


This is how America views nudity at my local nude beach!
