I guess youre saying we dont have it here in the USA? You dont get out much do ya? an why only freedom of the press?,
i'll take a wild guess an say you have never been to Venezuela, neither have i. nor would i want to. The increase in Venezuelians SP? leaving the country is a sign 'THEY" see a Dictatorship coming.

No, the U.S. media and press is a joke, why don't you actually read your newspapers, they're full of nationalistic bias and bs like I see on every other page in a Canadian newspaper.

Freedom of the press would be stating your opinions freely ( yes I said opinions, stating just the facts doesn't exist anymore, notice how all the news is always written in a certain style, a BIAS, that's opinion ), the media gets sued every time they step out of bounds, heard of the Isaiah Washington scandal, you know how he called a homosexual actor a faggot, not just on entertainment news, they were talking about it on regular news too, for weeks, unbelievable, that's just a recent example.

Freedom of the press would be stating something like " Robert Pickton is a clearly guilty serial killer who deserves to be tortured and brutally killed, instead however a trial has now begun which will take years sorting through all the evidence which is more than enough to convince ayone he is guilty. Millions of the tax payers money will be wasted on a man who is worth less to society than a retarded seal "

However, if I wrote an articel stating that I would probably be charged with some idiotic law or at the least the article would be discarded, but in reality that's what a lot of people are thinking, in 50 years I won't be surprised if freedom of thought is limited as well.

Saying we have freedom of the press is like saying we have freedom of speech too.

Look around, just because the New York Times and Washinton Post aren't printing extreme article it doesn't mean there's aren't small papers targeting specific people out there saying things that make other people go "wtf"

I'm sorry but can you write the word fag in a newspaper? Even if it is to describe a cigarette? I'm short on examples today but I think you know what I mean. People get thrown in jail for writing newspapers that directly criticize the government, and I mean criticize not point out the obvious.

People have to stop thinking that Democracy is good and Dictatorship is bad, either can be good and either can be bad.

Then again, what is bad and what is good?

    Democracy ain't sugar.

Well in a democracy corruption and injustices can be better dealt with. If the government controls the press who will expose the corruption?
