You're claiming to be aware, yet in the current political climate - you know, muslims to be disallowed access into the country or charlottesville having good people with both white supremacy and antifa - you don't think that Roseanne violated the norms around race by making a comment about Muslim brotherhood and Planet of the Apes in reference to the appearance of a woman of color? I like my version of the norms better.

well the woman that she compared to an ape, does kind of look a bit apey. yes, i know that there have been racial ape slurs made forever, but i have also seen plenty of white people compared to apes; it's a pretty common comparison/insult to make about anybody.

so are we saying that this woman is black now? i certainly haven't done any research, but she sure looks white from the pictures posted in this thread?

What throws some people off is thinking that African Americans are of 100% African ancestry.

It seems in her instance she's got African, French, Scottish, and Native American ancestors.

I see alot of Native American traits in her appearance.

Calling a black person an ape is an obvious racist remark that had been made my racists since the civil war ended. That's why it's OK to use them as slaves they are animals not real humans like white people. It really means nothing if you personally don't find it racist (though I suspect you understand why you just liked the comment) it has nothing to do with you.

I have seen a few people mention Trump being called an ape too. It's not the same he's white and it's a pity some do not get that. Comments meant different things when said to different people. He also tried to sue because the comment hurt his feelings. Which off topic I suppose would the perfect example of feelings being more important than the fact of free speech applying. Very left wing of him.

Rosanne also had the free speech as does ABC in not being associated wit her. She is the not the victim but I do enjoy the mental gymnastics that make her one.

She's functional but messed up between the ears and has been so since she was in a car accident at 16 when she suffered a severe brain injury

If you actually take the time to listen to her fellow cast members who are losing out on hundreds of thousands of dollars, and have everything to lose and nothing to gain,
