Back to this one, as you tried to make that equivalence

    A) at the start of our nation, we (whiteys) were the slaves, well called "convicts" not "slaves", even though it was the same kind of shit (on a smaller scale) especially the first couple of trips, entire ships full of convicts drowned, many starved to death, died from disease when they got here. We still get the Australia is a nation of criminals jibes/jokes from various sources

    B) There are also a crap load of pacific islanders, maoris we grew up with. They are a racial minority, And for the life of me I cant ever remember one of ever complaining about being oppressed by whiteys

    C) "They" were here first, and by a long mile. Australian Aborigines the only remaining evidence of one of the first migrations out of Africa. I'd say white vs native american is probably a better comparison, but still not really so, as your native americans are really just mongolians /taiwanese twenty thousand years later.

What I mean is, and its hard to explain unless youve seen one in real life, but Australian Aborgines have this eery before the dawn of time thing going on, some of them are blacker than africans, but dont look like africans at all apart from their colour. You look at Native Americans and your brain picks up there is a little central asian influence there. Aus natives, No real resemblance to any other race, and kind of switched on in a way no other race is. If that makes any sense

Not that they didnt have a shit time when we first invaded, but we still havent really settled Australias interior so there was never any equivalence of say the US army having to chase away natives from the settlers in states that are in the middle of your country like kansas or missouri, and they werent all hoarded into reservations like native americans were - that might sound a bit "we are better than you guys", but its just numbers, still not enough of of us to give a shit about central australia

Anyhoo, thats why this is all peplexing, all you hear out of the US is black vs white, neither group seems to give a shit about other racial minorities, blacks are oppressed by whiteys and yet they are all over your culture, tv, movies, music, sports.....$20 million a year NFL contract, but get down on one knee during the national anthem to highlight how oppressed your people are ............dafuq?

Actually Clinton got 48.2%, Trump 46.1%.
Clinton beat Trump in the popular vote by 2.1%. Only two other U.S. Presidents have ever lost by a bigger majority margin.
Clinton received more votes than Obama in 2012.

She's not feckless. She's very busy making money hand over fist, as is her father. These people are slick--no doubt about that.

People were saying a few posts back that no one is making a big deal about Samantha Bee's comment. I surely would have said something were there a thread about it. I don't think there's a double standard and find her comment highly inappropriate. I don't think that's ok to say about anybody! She's taking advantage of the public outcry against all things Trump for her own personal gain in my opinion.

TBS and ABC (well, Disney) are both private, seperate companies who make decisions based on projected profits. ABC decided Roseanne would not be profitable anymore and with good reason. Her show wasnt just for conservatives, it wasnt even particularly conservative (I just want to remind people about the preachy episode where Roseanne shares her food stamps with Yemen refugees). It had broad mainstream appeal as a lot of people from all walks of life watched its first run and tuned in for the reboot. And so ABC decided her comment would alienate enough of their viewers to justify cancelling the show.

TBS deciding to keep Samantha Bee's show isnt a double standard, it is a business decision made by a completely different company. Her show has a much smaller niche audience and TBS must have decided they wouldnt lose enough of the audience over her remarks to justify cancelling the show.

These are business decisions, not ethical decisions

Which comment we talking about anyway "feckless c*nt' or "wear something low cut and tell Donald to stop it"

I thought the second one was funny, and demeaning to Donald not Ivanka

If the first, she is officially an advisor to the President now, a government employee, its not like advisors to the government havent been called nasty names before

Even as business decisions within these organizations they are short term decisions based on the probabilty of the impact of an outcry, not the outcry itself. Advertizers fall like dominoes, pretending to give a shit about ethics rather than projected financial impact

$400,000 for a 30 second spot in the reboots first year, so 7 million in advertising revenue per episode, and thats just on ABC in the US. Triple that once you include everywhere in the world its shown. 200 million of advertising revenue worldwide for a 10 episode season. Closer to half a billion if you expand it to 23 eps, in a company whose total yearly revenue in 2015 anyway seemed to be 6 billion.

One fiscal year later the board is thinking of dumping Channing Dungey for poor sales growth, as if they are going to give a shit about one tweet

I was referring to the "feckless" comment. I don't know where she gets off but that sure isn't a nice thing to call someone. I think that she was trying to be funny (is she a comedian?) and instead it's just hurtful.

I think too, it's not only an audience perception thing, but her cast members might not have wanted to work with her, anymore. When you say mean spirited/racist stuff, as a celeb, be ready for the fall out. And, probably a lot of people have lost respect for her, and it would have been uncomfortable on the set. So, her apology might be contrite, but how people perceive her now, is just a consequence that she'll have to accept.

True, yet I believe some of the outcry to be motivated by their concerns about how they themselves may become perceived, by association.

She'll probably sue for breach of contract and get millions. The hypocritical hypersensitive twats at ABC didn't fire her for comparing Hillary to a donkey. But oh no, don't compare someone who is barely black to an ape. Jesus Christ, is Valerie J. even black at all? She looks like a cross between a jew and a Filipino. It's not like she wasn't known for being an offensive loudmouth. In the context of who she is and all the shit she says, it is over-reactive. To pick out one offensive statement to over countless others, IS hypocrisy. It is a double standard. If offense against a certain race is your only trigger, then YOU are the racist. I don't think Roseanne is a racist, she offends without bias. The hypersensitive twats are the ones biased in what triggers their overreactions.
