I don't think he actuly finds her attractive. It's a common joke here that he is but it's about his ego and it being HIS daughter. Other men would want her which is something of his so it boosts his ego.

 

Would have been fairer, and funnier if they had just killed off Roseannes character in the show. She got run over by a truck or something. Three days later Dan remarries an african american lady played by Oprah

 

You really think the show's core audience would watch that?

She's not that popular and she has come up in other threads. She is probably not supported like you think she is by anti-Trump people.
Rosanne was a right wing icon. They were so proud that they had a voice on TV and many still do not care. Being called a **** is also not a racial slur. Slurs are going to be made worse when in general a racist attitude is tolerated in politics now. Michelle Obama was also called an ape many times by Fox. All types of comments that basically boiled down to her being a large black women so she is a man or a gorilla. She had some guns I admit but this is nothing new and at that time apparently the first lady was not off limits. It's only when it's a Republican first lady that is a dainty flower who can not hear mean things.

 

i heard a radio host talking about this today (yes, finally someone outside of hipforums actually mentioned this whole thing), and his idea was that in the next episode, they should just have the roseanne character played by wanda sykes, and not say a word about it as though nothing had actually changed.

Exactly everyone would simply chalk it up to the Mandela Effect .i.e. The Roseanne show was the convergence point of two parallel universes

The plot will be that Roseanne is dead and her ghost is possessing Toks' body. Toks walks in like she owns the place and knows everyone, and they all grow to love and accept her. Yes, I should be hired as a writer too.

Who knows but I felt like the show didn't have much future. It came on as a shocker, and there was some curiosity about how the cast of the original show was faring, but it's hard for me to fathom where they might have gone with it to retain interest. Keeping up the same mantra would have been boring, and anything else would turn it sideways I think.

I dunno. I just expected it to be short-lived. But there is so much mindless entertainment out there that maybe, maybe there could have been a future for the show. Maybe they could have found a way to make it interesting. I think every aspect of the incident sucks and personally I will not grieve the show's passing.

The Roseanne podcast is not happening today. She’s not doing well and doesn’t want to travel, and she’s gone radio silent on me, so I’m just going to step away. The whole thing has been pretty brutal on her, and I hope she can find some peace.

Here in Aus, it was on straight after Masterchef on a monday night, which basically means it was the 2nd highest rating show (after Masterchef) of the week


And according to Forbes, Roseanne was indeed your (the US's) number 1 show of the season. I think they would have gotten at least 3 seasons out of the reboot, maybe more. Especially with sitcoms, it had no competition at the moment, and there have been stuff all succesful sitcoms over the last decade except for the never ending Big Bang Theory (Which had two Roseanne stars in it anyway)

Kind of reminded now of the situation before Trump got elected, you had pretty much all of the media telling you that you are supposed to be offended by this and that, Trump doesnt really have a chance, blah blah blah....the oh surprise surprise at least half the population doesnt give a shit what the media thinks and Trump got voted in.

The whole point of Roseanne was it was a sitcom about a dysfunctional family, why were we supposed to give a shit about what Roseanne thinks anyway

Who exactly is going to "win" out of this anyway? Roseanne herself will probably be put on a higher pedestal by red state voters, which will include many african americans. How many african americans give a shit about Roseannes opinions, how many would have still watched the show had it been allowed to continue?

Does Channing Dungey represent all african americans? - including the ones that voted for Trump so he could build the wall because there are too many mexicans running around

And I still dont get what the big deal is about the comment, and no one seems to give a shit about the muslim brotherhood part of the comment, but if we are comparing black people to apes, why exactly is it nasty, because apes are less intelligent (just) compared to humans, or apes are more aggressive....what exactly?

By comparison If instead I said all african americans look like Pandas or Horses...would it make any sense? Or if I take another race, and say all filipinos look like little monkeys becuase they are all short, would you be as offended? No, why exactly? Unless it is a cultural thing and most of you have been brought up being told the ape - black people thing is very bad, never really questioned why, extra sensitive compared to the rest of the world throughout your lifetime becuase you have that sizeable minority living amongst you your whole life

I am just simply not offended by the comment, as much as anyone that grew up in the US, whats so bad about apes? What the fuck is the big deal?
