Has anyone tried this? I was thinking about rooting mine, for the sake of better data security, and to get rid of most of the shit inbuilt apps which come with it that you can't remove and I never use. If you have experience of this I would appreciate your feedback. http://www.androidcentral.com/root
running as root is a security risk. nothing should run as root unless absolutely necessary to do low level OS things. any software running as root can do anything that's possible for that OS to do with the hardware through system calls ... I don't have an android device and have never tried it, so I can't give you anymore advice than that; just be sure you aren't opening yourself up to any potential vulnerabilities by doing so.
Thanks for your reply man, I appreciate where you're coming from. In case you or anyone else is interested, I started a thread about this on a techie forum as well, which has had some interesting replies: https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/511855-Rooting-Android-Phones
I looked at the link, don't know much about rooting andoid devices (no personal experience here). I do know that whatever you do, make sure that your security is tight, know what you're doing before you do it. i.e. RTFM The last reply in the thread you linked was this, which kind of goes along with what I said, just in case you missed it:
Yeah sorry I have already read the entire thread. I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to reply with your opinion. Anyway, now you've posted that quote it might be useful for anyone else who reads it here.
