Here's Ron Paul being interviewed by Wolf Blitzer yesterday about why he raised so much money and such, it's pretty good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGFyh92HoCU
Another thing about dr paul is he spends below his budget in congress and sends the excess back. Virtually nobody in our society has that kind of integrity anymore, especially people that have been fucking around on capitol hill for years. Evil, I do see your concerns dont get me wrong. but I dont think that we should approach it in such a fatalistic way. First of all, we dont even know the entire election process isnt completely rigged. This could all be pointless speculation. Call me naive but I have a strong feeling that if ron paul doesnt take the primaries he is going to step out of the election. He has to be aware how he would split the votes in a 3rd party situation. Second of all, a lot of the shit you are saying seems almost delusional. In a way thats reminiscent of when my old roommate and I used to be spun out on adderall all the time. I saw you say in another post that you needed to take your addy so just from an outside objective perspective, you might want to keep all that in check. And what are you saying about being enlisted? Who the fuck cares? If you want to go that route Im a son of the american revolution as well as all of the non imperialistic US wars. Does that mean I have more say than a second generation american? Thats rather tyrannical in nature no? Once again I dont understand your logic. We need a president who is going to completely shake and help us begin the process of restructuring the foundation of our society.
Deviate, no doubt we're living in a two party dictatorship. i think the way it is summed up by the video in the post preceding yours is very pertinent. It's sad that these are the way things are, but these are the way things are, but they are. What a wonderful world it would be if someone like paul or nader actually got elected, but it's not happening. American politics are a compromise. If Nader hadn't ran in 2000 we wouldn't be in this mess. do you not at least get that? I don't like having to compromise for the safer more effective vote. I'll probably vote democrat til the day i die unless someone from a third party comes along who has a chance. That is hardly narrow minded. It's called doing the best with what is put before you. I'm not so much stuck on the medias portrayals of politicians as i am the medias coverage of children dying, my brothers of my generation dying , for the past 6 fucking years all because a few ultra liberal, antiprohibitionists wanted to have their cake and eat it too. I'd like to see you TRY to burn a draft card on national tv. We can't even see the coffins of our fallen brothers and you think that you would be televised burning your draft card. What would really happen is you would be whisked away to a FEMA internment camp immediately where you would eventually die of dissentary and no one would ever hear from you again because i'm sure that would make you a terrorist under our new "constitution". You get real. Do you think the soldiers in Iraq really want to be there. Most of them bought into the 9/11 thing believing our country's intentions were noble, or were conned by shady recruiters. Personally I don't mind giving a hand to someone who needs it. I'll suffer side by side with these poor souls. I feel like i owe that to something. that's what i believe in. I believe the world isn't perfect, especially not politics. Obama may not get pot legalized for you, but he can sure as fuck help spare some lives, but as long as it's not your life though what the fuck do u care. right? Don't get me wrong i know where you're coming from. The land of overidealism and futility. from which my train departs now.
My reason for being against the drug war is way beyond my own life. What you dont realize is there are millions of people like you or i in PRISON getting raped and beaten and wasting away. I have guilt about being free when all of those people are suffering. Does that mean Im singular minded and ignoring other violations of human rights? Of course not I empathize with them extremely. But our drug war IS a full out domestic war, and personally I would rather be killed in combat than be caged for 30 years for growing plants. One of my best friends is in the army, hes a medic and joined not because he wanted to fight but he wanted to help people getting dismembered and mutilated. He already spent a year in iraq, and next month is going to afghanistan for 15 months because they extended the tours. Does he want to be there? Fuck no and he is very disenchanted with the military right now I might add. But you know what? He still made the conscious choice to enlist. I am a psychologist and see drug addiction as an illness. Those people did not choose to bring themselves to that point, I dont care what anyone says because its typically people who havent experienced the factors that lead to it, or the addiction itself. It blows my mind how immoral and inhumane our criminal justice system is, I read weekly about people in my city being locked away for years while pedophiles get a slap on the wrist and a database registration. It is an absolutely urgent issue that has been destroying the soul of this country for decades. You dont think there would be massive protests and demonstrations if they institute a draft? It would be absolutely insane and the media would be covering that for sure. And youre right, they might end up whisking me away. But I have always stood up for my beliefs since I was very young and can honestly imagine myself doing that. And I am also not a person who would disappear without a huge scene. My family would tap all of the resources they have, and those resources would tap their resources. One of my very close friends who cares a lot about me has an LLM in international law, has gone up against federal judges, never lost a case, and has had a media presence. So if thats what they were going to do, I say bring it on. I am fucking fed up. If the government wont let me spend my time on this earth peacefully and free, then a war is what they might get.
Not to mention the billions of dollars wasted not only on the war on drugs, buton programs like welfare, because these convicts can no longer attain gainful employment because of their record. Our system is totally assbackwards. Not just under Bush but Clinton as well. What Clinton did pales in comparison to what Bush has done. I think Bush will go down in history as worse than Nixon. All that aside for nowi feel as though we can really only fix one problem at a time, and this one's a doozie. Realistically it will take decades to clean up Baby Huey's mess, but I feel what we need to take care of first is getting him and all his buddies as far away from Washington as possible, and take no chances doing so. b/c if this race is remotely close Deibold will give it to Giuliani. And like You said earlier this election could be staged just like our last.
Yeah bro we are both adhd too, whatever that is. Speaking of that Im gonna have to continue this discussion later..
