I'm quite serious. Ron Paul is not a corrupt man... they are far and few between, but only because the PEOPLE put the majority of diots in office by not paying attention, or there was no better option at the time because those who stand against the system stand in fear OF the system. Ron Paul stands against everything we need to stand against.
http://www.ronpaul08.com kill the income tax, DRASTICALLY cut the horrendous overspending... we not only have more money thats worth something, but the country is better protected and we get out of the world's hair... not to mention the senseless war on drugs ENDS... thats trillions right there. The loss of income tax will also be met with an increase in sales and etc tax revenue due to us having more $ to spend, you must also consider that. Gold standard would be a wonderful thing... to think I can spend a day at work and actually recieve something of value.... instead of paper that will be greatly devalued the longer I hold onto it. Check em out... no matter your views on things, you must understand his adherance to the constitution and his demand for more money in our pockets/less conflicts/power in the states - power to the people! Regardless of his views, if he wants to hand the power back to the people, he's my man...no other candidate wants this.. they want more power and to serve an elite agenda. Even if you despise him, for whatever reason, you can't possibly want to continue the downword spiral towards fascism that every other candidate *will* continue.
A person who is not corrupt will be eaten alive by this political system. If he really is not corrupt at all, which is hard to believe because I'm pretty sure that he's twisting his ideology in order to obtain more liberal (or conservative) votes which is already a sign of corruption... then he will not ever win the elections... ever. Everyone that has any power in this system needs a corrupt leader. If Ron Paul is indeed not corrupt, then a vote for him is a waste of a vote... the Elite, as Matt likes to call them, will never let him win.
Your right, because the system is corrupt a man like Ron Paul cannot be allowed into office. This is EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!! why WE need to vote and fight for what he stands for... because even if he managed to get elected, there is no doubt in my mind he would be assasinated... but at that point, the country has spoken, and the revolution will have already started.
If for nothing else you help me strengthen my points by questioning (although extremely weakly) them. We can go on however long you like about the generations of welfare and unemployment abusers. It helps to see the big picture when you truly dig into how to fix so many folks bein poor in the first place. I honestly can't see you providing a strong argument for keeping such programs in action, though. Unemployment shouldn't hand out $, it should be more like a temp service.
It's easy to stop a revolution when you have a military that's trained to kill before asking questions and is supplied with billions of dollars worth of weapons. There go the illusions of a revolution.
Don't be scared - fear is what allows those with power to gain yet more power, while stripping our rights. I don't fear the military... I fear my kids growing up in a fascist state. The military are people too... given a proper revolution, many would be swayed. The people we have to worry about are those that are contracted... mercenaries that are entirely unanswerable to the people. When the revolution comes, the REAL terrorists are going to pop up... but with the power back in the people's hands we can actually go after the few elite that are running the country and put them in jail where they belong. But... to those "defense contractors"... they would not only stand to lose *billions* in revenue, they would without a question be *extremely* well compensated for returning the balance of power to the elite few that call the shots as we speak.
I'm not scared. I just think that a revolution have an extremely negative effect. There will be lots of unnecessary bloodshed, total chaos, starvation, and so on. If you look at modern world history you'd realize that most revolutions do not achieve much. Plus, do you actually believe that the American people are going to revolt? The American people are the LAST people on this entire earth who would revolt. Do you think that they want to loose the comfort of their TVs and Fast Food? Hah! Even if America becomes a completely "fascist" state, as you claim it will become... the people still won't revolt. Even if all of their personal freedoms are taken away, they won't revolt. Even if a chip is planted in the back of their head that reads all of their thoughts and zaps them everytime they think about anything other than what they're supposed to be buying... they still won't revolt. You overestimate people. It's not a pretty thing to say, not a pretty thing at all... but people are just too damn stupid as a group. People will not act until all of their comforts are stripped away, and then it will be too late. It's nice to be idealistic, it's beautiful to be idealistic... but... I have no faith in humanity. Individual people are amazing and beautiful... but we are complete and utter destructive idiots as a whole. We will bring ourselves to our own demise without even realizing it. I have met too many people, read too much history, and been to too many places... I have completely lost my faith in humanity. I'm happy for it though. I think that it's better to be realistic and accept the fact instead of fighting a pointless fight. I'd rather direct my efforts at feeding a homeless guy than at spewing pointless political propaganda on the internet that will lead to nothing. Strong words... I wish they weren't true.
Individuals make the whole. "We" are not destructive idiots, perhaps you are, but you may not include me in such a definition. Revolution's HAVE been extremely succesful... we do not need to "fight" at this point, its not there yet, we need to work *within* the system while we still can. Freedom is not pointless!!!!!!! I WILL NOT bring my kids into a world of fascism, I WILL do what I can to prevent that from happening. I do not intend on my grandkids to live in the world of "1984"... Stop being a defeatist... that is not being a realist - being a realist you must realize that we cannot allow the state to fall into such dissaray... a situation that may last for hundreds of years, solely because you don't feel like fighting to stop that from happening! Your mentality does not serve the needs of this country's future.... we do have a chance!!!! A GREAT chance!!!!! WE have a chance... our great grandkids WILL NOT.
When I say "We" I mean the human race as a whole. You cannot deny our idiotic and destructive nature. You keep on shouting man. I'll go and do something that might actually help someone.
Being on here helps someone The whole world is people, just barely seperated by a few genes from monkeys, let alone eachother... nobody is born to hate someone else, we are all born basically the same. That means we are not born to kill, we are born with a potential for either peace or war, if we in this country decide for peace, it will prompt the rest of the world to move towards peace... and that is why this election is so important. Its not about next year, its about setting things in motion for world peace maybe 200 years from now.
I'm sorry for using a hilarious band as a reference. But there has never been peace in humanity. If you want peace you're going to have to start educating the entire world, an entire new generation from a very early age. Problem is... no one wants to listen. Hell, I'm an Israeli citizen and I accept the fact the Muslims hate me and want to kill me just because I'm an Israeli citizen... makes no sense to me... but c'est la vie! I'm not gonna go and try to reason with Muslims over peace.
Because we did not have the opportunity for communicatoin *before* all the sort of corruption set in... *before* kings were elected, religion was started, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back then when people didn't understand all humans were the same... when white people really thought black people were monkeys. Waaaaaaaaaaay back then the world didn't know better... but now, the entire world has the full potential to know better... we just hold onto the old ways of war and hate because of religion and old ways of thinking. This is why peace must be started... and America is not only in the BEST position to set peace in motion across the entire world...it is in the BEST position to tear the world apart!!! We can all share "one mind" today, this was never possible before...
People still don't understand that all humans are the same. There is still a ridiculous amount of hate around. It's just illegal to express it now. Some nations have made great progress in human rights... but most of the world still lives in corruption, hate, greed, and with a complete lack of equality. America has no right to interfere in world affairs... nothing good ever comes out of America trying to being peace to the world.
http://people.ronpaul2008.com/endorsements/2007/12/19/lauren-royal/ Dr. Arthur Robinson, Founder, Robinson Curriculum; President and Research Professor of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine “Ron Paul and the Constitutional principles upon which his Presidential campaign is based are, by far, the best opportunity that is being offered to the people of the United States. He is awakening the economic, political, social and ethical traditions that have made America great. As Ron Paul says, it is his message not himself that is responsible for the rapid rise and strength of his campaign. Ron Paul is, however, an ideal messenger, with the experience and personal qualities to translate that message into reality as President.” Its his message, not him.... that is very important. I said it in another thread, Ron Paul isn't a great speaker, he doesn't have that confident and powerful way that past presidents have been elected on... but the message is irrefutably GOOD for this country. This is why I say other candidates can't develope such a dedicated following... it only makes good common sense to vote for Ron Paul - he is literally our best hope for changing the direction of this country and *the world*!!!
If you think a man like Ron Paul, who stands on a platform of alleged higher moral ground, is any better qualified or more morally correct for our country than any other candidate, you're only fooling yourself. His mishmash of ideas and ideals seem to me to be quite contradictory. He's a Christian and he's pro-life but he'll leave that issue to the states to decide. He's against same-sex marriages but he'll leave that for the states to decide. Contrary to earlier postings, he does oppose federal funding for stem cell research. Do you honestly think any individual or state has the money to fund such programs? probably not. So that leaves it in the hands of the pharmaceutical companies. We all know how they tend to fuck things up and then overcharge for them and we pay the cost. It also means that there will be no trials at NIH. Think about that. He wants to end the war on drugs because it's expensive and futile. But the penalties for possession, use and distribution will still be defined by the states. Nowhere does he say he supports efforts to legalize anything. It will still be a crime to possess marijuana and other substances for recreational purposes. Think you're going to get your state to legalize weed? Remember California in the 60s when people got 20 years for having a couple of errant seeds under the back seat of their car? Want to go back to that? If anything we're a LESS open and liberal society now than we were then. Letting the states decide your rights will only serve to further polarize this country and our citizenry. Don't believe me? When Hawaii legalized same sex marriages their tourism industry dwindled to almost nil. If it hadn't been for gay couples travelling there it would have died altogether (which I don't really care about, but it proves my point). He's a doctor but he doesn't see the need for the federal government to mandate proper and equal universal healthcare for ALL citizens. No one said anything about new bureacracies or limitations on legal remedies, we simply want all citizens no matter what demographic, no matter what income level, to have proper healthcare available to them. Like Italy. And Spain. And Great Britain. And Ireland and France and Australia and New Zealand and Japan and Korea and Canada and every other industrialized nation in the fucking world. If they can work this out, surely we can. Of course, his wording makes it sound suspiciously like he's more concerned with his colleagues' profits since obviously fees will go DOWN if the fed manages a universal healthcare system. So I'll say it again. He's pandering, which is completely ok because that's what politicians do. They tell you what they think you want to hear to get elected and then they look out for their little special interests. That's how it works. No one is sacrosanct. No one is untouchable. No one has clean hands in this game. I understand that. But that doesn't mean I trust him or will vote for him. Some of you are deifying this old man. That's just sick. He's no better than anyone else. Perhaps not any worse, but definitely no better. And stop saying that his "personal opinions" will have no bearing on his governing decisions. Our personal opinions are what shape our values and carry us through our daily lives. He cannot escape his opinions and he's stated them quite eloquently. All quotes came directly from the Ron Paul Library.
I sure didn't see those contradictions - please explain further. Apparantly you don't understand his points, read below, see the big picture. And this is a problem how? YOU have more say in your state than in the federal government... how its "supposed" to work is that a certain majority of the country, that is never spread evenly among the country, is supposed to be in favor of a law... of course on the federal level the people have very indirect representation, and their individual state rights are very hard to address on a federal level. Since its impossible to represent everyone on a federal level, some have no voice at all, while some have very loud and powerful voices. How about people stop paying such high costs for drugs they don't need, and we'll get the prices down drastically. Stem cell research would undoubtedly continue, there is no question... why is it the responsibility of everyone in this country to pay for it, though?????? Those that wish it to continue, donate a portion of your check! With all the cash you keep in your pocket by killing the income tax now you'll be able to put that % where you want it - not where someone else wants it. Why can we no longer get cheap drugs from canada (unless they repealed that)???? What sense dose that make? I had a medication that was expensive here, but cheap in canada... and I had to just stop taking it because it was too much money here... again, how is that reasonable? Quit the government poking there heads into such matters, the prices will be forced to go down. YES! And the one or handful of states that legalize it will be like amsterdam... just imagine if you could go to vegas and smoke weed freely, I'd make a special trip just for that. and beat their doors down to move in. What does the 60's have to do with now? What in the hell makes you think california (who LEGALIZED for medicinal uses....) would go back to such barbarik laws???? Out of ANY state to use as an example, that was by far the worst to pick to prove your point, if anything you prove mine! If the fed government didn't interfere, it *would* be legal for medicinal uses now....*now*... And the Hawiian citizens did what they chose to do... whats wrong with that? Why would anyone care about same sex marriages in such a wonderful place? That homophobia is what needs to die down, not the freedom to choose... I see no problems here, if thats what the people want, thats what they have... laws can be changed, but I don't see why they would. Read about how those healthcare systems actually work... who pays for it???? MORE taxes, BIGGER deficit? You want healthcare, keep your money in your pocket and pay for it! Get some insurance, its just that simple... if you don't want it or can't afford even the most basic coverage, thats a reality you must face... I'm not payin someone elses doctor bill, and I'm sure as hell not gonna demand thousands and thousands of dollars of tax payer money to take care of ME either. And hey, your state wants healthcare, go for it. You don't even understand the man's points... its ok, it seems odd at first, but you just have to see the big picture - HE sees the big picture, and HE will hand you freedom on a silver platter. His personal opinions DO NOT MATTER... as president he wishes to GREATLY reduce his power... he wants to greatly reduce the power of the federal government period... so that people you DIRECTLY elect that are answerable to *you* are in charge of your governmental concerns. Ron Paul does not and will not vote to make the federal government spend more or get larger, period, ever, president or no president. He's consistent, he stands by what he says and has always stood by what he says... No other candidate can say this... zero, none, nobody wants to hand the power to the people, they want to keep it in the elite hands that currently drive it into fascism.
Zoomie, Have you considered that maybe some people DO support his opinions? Not everyone is a left-wing extremist like yourself. Most people don't want nanny state socialism. They want the government out of their lives. Paul is against socialized medicine, as every informed person should be, but he also talks about helping the people in need by cutting spending to fund massive bureaucracies like the Department of Homeland Security. That way, there will be money to help those who need it. If we didn't spend massive amounts of money fighting wars abroad, helping people in need would not be an issue. But at the same time people should have the right to choose, and under a socialized system of healthcare that wouldn't be allowed. Candidates like Hillary and Edwards have already talked about making universal healthcare MANDATORY for every man, woman and child. How is that freedom? What about people who don't want socialized medicine? How is that freedom to have your medical care in the hands of the government, where they dictate what kinds of treatment you can or cannot receive? Sorry, but I want the government OUT of my personal life. And as far as pandering, that's just absurd. Paul is probably the only politician I have known that doesn't pander, but rather says exactly what he believes. Anyone who has heard him speak and answer tough questions knows this. If Paul is as you claim, then how come all his money is coming from average people, unlike Hillary and Obama, who receive large sums of money from multinationals, big-pharma, big-oil, and the Military-Industrial Complex? I mean, are you really THAT dense and dumbed-down by the media?
Uh, not sure what your complaint is. I was TALKING about Ron Paul.... Maybe I need to clarify? What I said was that your votes for Kucinich and whatever other "green" candidates or "independant" candidates are wasted, no matter how much you agree with their stand on issues, and it's better at this point to vote for RON PAUL, because he's one of the good guys and he DOES have a chance. THAT is the statement I was speaking of...
Crankyelbow.. your hopeful attitude is contagious as hell. There's nothing wrong with a little hope even when it seems as if there is no chance.. it seems to be the only reason to stick around in the face of sheer destruction. People generally see me as jaded but as you can see from my views on freedom, I still have hope in mankind, too.
