The Iowa Straw Poll coming up in August will be important for Ron Paul. If he does well, especially if he comes out on top, I think it will be hard for the big media to continue to write him off.
From the Iowa GOP site at http://www.iowagop.net/shownews.asp?artid=20 Well, I'd hoped for better, but you take what you get. Virginia doesn't require voters to register by party, so you can vote in any party's primary election (you can only vote in one party's, though). Although I'm an Independant, it looks like I'll be voting in the Republican primary this year so that maybe we can "grassroots" our way into having Ron Paul on the ballot for President in the general election. It's a tactic I hope others will use, too.
I got to watch C-span last week, while housesitting. The narrators were keeping track of how many callers mentioned Ron Paul, and they were a little taken aback when I think 30 some people mentioned him in a two hour period. The guest commentators all discounted him as a fringe candidate. I say keep it up and maybe eventually he'll be taken seriously. Why is he any more fringe than Hillary and Obama?
because big buisness owns the news componys and is trying to force people to think he isnt a credible choice
Here is a good Ron Paul video someone brought to my attention and I thought I would share. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFfdB5OzlyQ
Thats a good vid ^ Just tell people that you know to vote Ron Paul. He seems like the best candidate and Id vote for him if i could.
Exactly. If it did, this country wouldn't be so screwed up. And look at the poll in this section-Ron Paul is way above all the other candidates. But the mainstream Repukeacrats will do anything to derail his candidacy. They're all going to hell anyway, with their Fuhrer George Bush leading the way.
I'll either vote for ron paul or i wont vote at all. I've already done something radical: i gave his campaign money after i saw him at one of the debates! crazy right? And MSM can ignore him all they want, when i went to a pool party for a buddy of mine a couple weeks ago i ran into 3 other ron paul supporters, WE HAD NEVER MET EACH OTHER BEFORE THAT NIGHT! We spent the night getting drunk, getting high, cursing the Federal Reserve and the Republicrats. Other people at the party were actually writing down the website info. it was insane.
If Ron Paul is lucky enough to get the Republican nomination, I will probably have to vote for him despite my being a Libertarian activist. Frankly, I don't give a damn who gives us liberty so long as we get it! I already have a bumper sticker on my car. I have seen a few signs on overpasses in my area for him. The polls are not necessarily there to measure public opinion but to mold it! A big AMEN to both of you! About the only other candidate who would advocate greater freedoms would be a Libertarian. Unfortunatly, I don't see said party fielding a winning presidential campaign anytime soon. We are headed down the path of tyranny so quickly that it's not funny! Anyone who thinks that any of the Democrats are going to be better for us had better take a remedial course in reality! Despite the rhetoric, I can almost guaran-damn-tee you that Hillary and Obama are going to continue the war if elected, just to name one issue. I think efforts will be made to squelch some if not most of their political adversaries. This will be especially true with Hillary! Thanks for that -an excellent video! Call me too paranoid, but if any common sense candidate like Paul did show signs of being a threat to the 'establishment', I think s/he'd be 'bumped off'. At best that person would wind up like George Wallace or at worst like JFK. Mind you, I don't have much love for either of these guys, especially the former. It's just that if you prove to be a 'threat' to 'the system,' then you stand a good chance of putting yourself in jeopardy. Speaking of Wallace, I find it interesting that Art Bremer who shot him in '72 is going to be paroled by the end of this year. For all of you out there who think that big business would want someone like Ron Paul or a Libertarian to be president, think again! These 'outfits' are the antithesis of the free market. They know that if someone like Paul were to be president, their corporate perks would disappear! You bring up an interesting point! In states where there is an open primary, be sure to make it to the polls and cast your vote not only for Ron Paul, but for those delegates to the national convention who are solely committed to supporting him! If independent delegates are chosen, Paul stands less of a chance of winning at the convention. If that happens, it's over! Keep in mind, though, that many states have closed primaries. Check to see if your state does. If so, keep in mind that the last day to change your party affiliation may be different than the last day to register to vote. This is definitely the case here in Maryland where the last day to change your party affiliation is the Monday twelve weeks before the primary (in this case, Monday the 19th of November '07) yet the last day to register to vote is sometime after that.
I saw a huge "Ron Paul '08" sign while driving through a town near me the other day. Right on the freeway, so thousands of people have probably seen it. I was very surprised to see it, and it made my day.
