Right. Ron Paul never said that we don't need government-he just wants to limit its abilty to regulate our lives and those of people around the world. And, if anyone believes that Hillary Clinton wants to 'help people', then they're just ripe for the picking, that's all I can say. Whatever happened to her brilliant plan for universal health care, that her husband did almost nothing with once he was elected? That was all just a ploy to get votes and get elected to the White House. Hillary's nothing but a warmonger that's in bed with the defense industry like the rest of the members of the Establishment. The good thing about Ron Paul is that he's not a member of the Club like the rest of them.
it isn't just the politicians who don't give a shit about us, or rather even if they do to some degree personally, there's just no way they can stay in the game without kissing the ass of the corporate mafia, but the corporatocracy itself, that doesn't really give a dam about any country nor any of the people in it, not even the u.s., who'se military force they use to cover there corrupt backs, and which, through the executive branch premarily, they all but completely control. and of course the government's own paper hanging is to cover the corporate mafia that controls it too. i don't think, or at least hope it isn't, a sustainable situation. sooner or later something is going to pop and collapse somehow. now this ron paul fellow, if he's really to the republicans like kusench and gravel are to the dems, just as a guess, he probably stands the same snowflakes chance in hell too. and i'm still going to be awfully skeptical of ANY white male republican winning the 2008 election. if that happens, with the POSSIBLE exception of your ron paul, there ain't no way i'm going to believe it hadn't been rigged in some way. probably by illigitimate purging of voter rolls and electronic vote switching the way the last couple appear to have been. =^^= .../\...
get out and vote by all means, i guess.. but you realize that all that happens is 1. white house determines who wins, by their account 2. white house tells major media outlet who to announce president
close, but it's the corporate mafia that holds the white house' puppet strings. and the corporate media is an arm of the corporate mafia. like i said we do get to choose between two prechosens, which may not always turn out to be as trivial as it seems. sometimes on or the other does turn out to screw us less. note i didn't say not at all, but at least a little less. and there are several reasons to vote, one is for the record that x many people actually voted, or tried to, the other is that there usually ARE local issues on the ballot, where votes on them can and do make a difference. =^^= .../\...
Lady: States. The states will run the welfare/social programs. Just like they did before FDR violated the constitution in the 30's. No more federal control over local welfare programs is all that will happen. Everyone gives the federal govt wayyy too much credit. Why get rid of the Dept of Education? Because all the funding for our schools comes from state/local taxes. And why do we need to cut these programs? Research "Inflation Tax" and learn for yourself how Ron Paul will do more to benefit the lower/middle class than any other candidate.
so then, according to this plan, part of the country will have good schools, and part won't...in part of the country women will have the right to choose, and in part they won't...part of the country will have good healthcare, and part won't...etc. i really don't see how this would be an improvement. if we are one country, we should all live by the same rules. it's easier for regional bullies to get and maintain control over smaller political units, as we've seen throughout the history of the country. why go back to that?
And you think it isn't that way now? Do you think we should just do away with the States? Personally I like the diversity we have in the US. If I don't like one area I can move to another where the climate, government, taxes, schools, etc are more to my liking. I love the diversity we have in this country. Diversity is what made the US great. The least thing we need is conformity across the entire country.
like walker in the woods said, that's how it is now. get with the times. plus, if it did become and issue, the people would have as big an oppurtunity to solve it as the government...
knowing how things have operated with the republicans so far, they'll just stop providing all government services to the states and keep on fighting wars they have to have taxes for. i don't see any advantage there. trumped up wars to fill their own pockets is how they already rob us for the majority of tax money we pay. turning around and blaming it on social/environmental programs is just a lame diversion that only works on ignorant people. all i see this plan doing is just decreasing accountability even more. you guys are talking about putting some old dinosaur in office, so don't tell me to get with the times. if he's a republican, his cronies will be republicans while he's in office, and that's going to make a huge difference in how all this turns out. don't you know how congress works? how's he going to get a bill passed if he doesn't make deals with his republican buddies? believe me, you vote republican and you're helping the present republican agenda move forward. don't kid yourselves.
Oh for the love of God. I'm sure you have some macho-cool reason why you don't vote, but really.. honestly.. if you don't vote, don't complain. I guess I thought that was a given..? I was actually agreeing with your point of view, but your credibility has been immediately deflated with that statement.
Nah, I don't buy that. Sure, your one vote isn't going to change the course of an election, and yes, I'm aware that electoral votes are what actually matters, but there's only one thing worse than voting and then bitching because it got you nowhere. And that is not voting and bitching about how it won't get you anywhere. If you don't contribute, how can you even claim that you SHOULD have a say? I write to my congressman almost daily, and I am sure that he hasn't himself read a single one of my letters. So I keep writing. And in the meantime, I try to figure out strategies that might work better. I guess I just don't believe in giving up that easily.
You can't, the majority could care less... completely unaware of whats actually going on. The small dose of politics on the 9 oclock news is more than they can chew anyway. They actually believe Al-queefa is comin in their houses to do some "terror"... nobody asks how all this started, and even if they were once told america trained the other side, it was in one ear out the other... People just don't care, but they have no problem splurting out whatever they are fed on the news and have a very uninformed comment about. Its difficult to have a political discussion nowadays unless someone deems themselves politically savvy - there isn't even a passing knowledge of whats going on in the majority.... Hurts my head, but, like ya said no reason to give up! There is NEVER a reason to give up... its not even an option. Ron Paul, whatever his beliefs, will vote with the country in mind. That is what is important... I can't give that confidence to anyone else. His platform in general is what we've needed to hear for the past 60 years or so - no victimless crime - no fed reserve - no income tax... that right there is plain ole common sense, and its something he isn't afraid to use. Nobody is perfect, but when the options are weighed, I can't quite literally throw my vote away to the cooperate monkeys he's up aginst. I could live with Kucinich, though... he's not too far off Dr P, almost seems they are in place specifically to split voters - wonder who was first and who is the cooperate monkey that wants to bring em down? Conspiracy theory in everything lol
Ron Paul seems to be one of the only candidates who has any first hand experience in American society today. I dont see how any of these candidates could support the perpetuation of welfare services. They may as well send welfare recipeints a crack rock each month for all the good their check does them. To me it seems less government is always the solution.
I've really been trying to dig into Paul's plans for the country lately, and he gave a speech at the Mid America Center in Council Bluffs, so I went to see him. I think he realizes that most of his voters are not middle-aged, middle-class white Republicans, and I think him just being okay with that proves a lot. The best reason to vote for Ron Paul is that he has logical suggestions for actual change.
The main thing I like about Ron Paul is taking America back to what is was meant to be and taking the government out of people's lives as much as they are. I also know that he isn't perfect by far, but I think he is much better than the competition. No one will follow your exact beliefs unless you run yourself, so you got to go for who is the best.
