So my friend texted me today and just got out of jail.

I told her about this crossroads, and needed her to take the picture, she said she was down. Which will be cool cause she can tell me the story of her getting busted.

I asked someone tonight since they live near where the crossroads is..they think they knew. So we may have to drive a good 70 miles to get to it.

I really lookin foward to sunday.

 

I was talking to my girlfriend just now... and I've come to realize one specific thing about her, that i really really can't stand... I love her, and think she is amazing... but, just this one thing really bothers me... shes cheap as hell, and i cant stand stingy and selfish people...

her whole family is cheap, they have a netflix account... and there's 4 of them in the family, her, her mom dad and brother... and they all have to pay 2$ a month for the netflix account, when she told me this tonight i laughed and was like wtf seeriously? like... really... is 8$ a month to much for just one person to pay? they are definalty well off and have more than enough money... but they make everyone pay 2$ a month... what do they do with that toonie they get a month? a toonie is nothing..

She has like at least 8-9 grand just sitting in her bank... yet she refuses to spend it, she wont pay more than $10-15 for a shirt... and she'll pretty much just buy like one cheap thing when we go shopping, i convinced her and basically forced her to spend some money and buy a $40 sweater.. she complained the entire day how much she spent on the sweater... $40? fuck, thats cheap! I wish i could find good sweaters i like for 40 fucking dollars...


And if she goes to timmies and buys her brother a donut or drink or anything, she'll make him pay her back and she writes down how much he owes her...she bought him a donut for like 99cents and marked it down that he owes her that! i dunno man, but that like.. gets on my nerves.. Everytime we go out i pay for everything cause i think thats what the guy should do, i buy her any food she wants and everything, and i'll bring home my mom and brother something too, I have never once asked any of them to ever pay me back, and ill buy them like full meals and shit, yet.... she makes her brother pay her back for a coffee...


Im sorry i just needed to rant about this and get it out of my system... I cant stand it when people are so cheap like that, its like... i dunno, it shows how important money is to her, yet she claims it isnt and she says how she doesnt care about it, she just likes the security of having it... whereas I like spending money, especially on others, it makes me feel good like im helping with something, i dont care about saving it.. what am i saving it for? I save enough to get by, the rest i will enjoy..

 

i prefer to save money, rather than spend it. its not cheap. its knowing the value. yyou shouldnt just spend money to be spending it. shes absolutely right about the security of it though. if you have a sudden expense it is better to be comfortably sitting on the money to pay for it, rather than scrambling. when it comes to a down payment on a house, a larger down payment gives you a lower interest rate, and even better, it you can purchase a property for cash you dont have to deal with a mortgage. oh, car dies, cant be revived... monthly payment or out of pocket one and done?

you and her might not get along for very long if you feel this way. you should make an effort to see it the way they see it. money is time. put it this way: how many hours did you have to work to pay for that charm bracelet? would you work that many hours to purchase it again?
you would not like to hang out with me. i squeeze pennies until they scream. i rarely buy clothes. if i do its thrifted, or underthings. in fact i go look at expensive clothes and mock the craftsmanship, while memorizing the shape, and then i make one, better, cheaper, custom at home. time is money. skill makes time worth more money.

 

I'd rather spend money young and have fun than to be wealthy and elderly sitting on the couch wondering "what if". I see it all the time with people. When you think how mundane life really is, work to live, why would you take away the materialistic happiness only money can bring?
I know a guy quite well off now that saved and saved. His friends saved money for a holiday he thought was a waste of money. Now his friends have that life experience, that adventure, they've gotten married and had kids. He's all alone now with no one to travel with and no courage to do it on his own. IMO his decision wasn't worth it. He's quite miserable and lonely with his coin.

I had a table request me from march 1st through the 3rd. Which is very cool, as it doesn't happen to servers often.

I had served them before. Couple in their 50s. The lady is portuguese just like me, and they want portuguese blood serving them :love:

 

spent the morning at the art museum for my art appreciation class. It was pretty cool, saw a lot of cool paintings and such. They had some famous paintings, take Starry Night for example... that were re-created out of jelly beans which was awesome haha. Now it may be time to smoke soon :sunny:

Yeah, I don't mind spending money for a good time or paying for a friend if their low on . This may be something you and your girlfriend will have to discuss further down the line..

 

This. i value life and having fun more than I do a bank. Plus, I dont see money as time... and how much time I had to work to get it... money is everywhere, if yoi want it you can always get it, such as with anything in life... it can be easy if you know how.

me and her just have very dofferent views when it comes to money... $100 to her is a lot, she would never dream of spending that much at once on something... whereas a 100 to me is nothing, I can barely even have fun with that...

Well her brothers 14 or 15, but still, making him pay you back for a donut? my brothers 13, and I bring him home stuff all the time and have never in my life asked him for money back, I buy him things to be nice and generous, so of course I dont want his money..what am I really going to do with that extra dollar? nothing...

 

if you dont see what you put out (work time) as money, i dont even know what to say. do you thoroughly enjoy your work? most people strive to make more money per hour, so that they have to work less hours to get by. is money falling out of the sky up there?
kids have to learn the value of money. how to budget and balance a checkbook. how to keep from going deep in debt. it may be less than a dollar now, but maybe he wont fall into the credit trap. debt sucks. its hard to get around it though. much better to have cash in hand.
im sure if there was something she really wanted, even if it was expensive, she would get it. the value of the item must be higher than the value of money security (for the amount of the item) but value is in the eye of the beholder. i would bend over backwards for a good cast iron cauldron, or a hoosier style baking cabinet, but most things are just not worth the purchase, or their value must be balanced against their usefulness.
its risk management. is the item worth the risk? if you have a lot of money saved, then you are probably safe to spend a little. if you are check to check, it might be risking your nourishment or medication to spend. if my friend in hawaii wanted me to visit right now, i would have to say no. its not worth the risk. but if i had $10K saved i would be able to visit, if i wanted. is the life experience worth the risk? depends on how you see the world.
