one of my jobs was at grouse mountain during expo 86...only dude in the box office with a dozen girls...it was one of my best summers ever.....i lived right beside the old hells angel clubhouse and a block from the new one...safest street in vancouver:devil:


when we were on unemployment we would hand deliver our cards to the building downtown at a minute after midnight on the due day....the security guard would then take the cards right to the dude making the checks and we would get our checks later that day in the mail....it was a great time in vancouver...i miss it but had to move back for my daughter

Sorry to hear that Hippie, maybe clear out for a week or two and try again with some more places - I know they suck but Walmart is always hiring, and check Aldi if there are any stores in your area they have awesome starting pay.

After working for years in restaurants, I can say you are 100% right as far as people ordering the same kind of food. It's like it comes in cycles, but not according to the first or last weeks of a month...or whenever checks are sent out.

If I ever got one chicken strip salad, I knew I'd get lots of others. If I never got one order, there wouldn't be any. Same with club sandwiches. I always hated when I got one ordered on whole wheat bread - because the bread we used was always so small. That is a LOT of stuff to put on small pieces of bread. Anyway, if I got 1 order for that, there would almost never be less than 8 more ordered. Of course there are other examples but those are the 2 that stand out. Also - how people would order hamburger steaks would even "trend together". Like whole nights nobody would want onions, or everybody would want onions, OR I remember nights everybody would want their's dry! The "dry" nights were the strangest.

Also, those are pretty neat ideas for your gf's valentine presents. I'm guess I'm odd (lol...who'd a thunk it ) because when I go out I wear a charm bracelet I love that I've had for years.

 

rolling, every job that i've heard you mention has sounded like a fun awesome job, where do you find these places?

Time to start applying to other places is coming... we just hired 3 new people, so i wont feel as bad about leaving soon... I need to work somewhere that interests me, or somewhere I enjoy... like a movie/music store would be perfect... or in a movie theatre.. I also want to work in retail, I love clothes and shoes, I love shopping, so imagine working in one of your favorite stores? It'd barely be like work... Plus, I might get discounts...

I think it'd be hard to get any of those jobs though.... But working at DQ is like destroying my soul lol I feel so belittled by every customer that comes in there... like i have to serve them, because i do... wearing my gay ass uniform hah

and lynn, glad to see i'm not the only one who noticed this! It's really strange how it happens... they're all complete random people who have no connection to one another too, like it'll just happen all throughout the day... its very strange stuff..

 

could you imagine being stranded on boat with no air conditioning in ninety degree weather and scarce running water and long food lines......miserable vacation from hell:devil:

ortuson319 i had plenty crappy jobs between the good ones....you should switch to theater and then relentlessly phone the business agent for IATSE in vancouver and become a stagehand in the union....or relentlessly apply at hydro or bell in the meantime

Imma be back on later to chat itup with everyone but to OP JUST CALL THEM, not like you even gotta speak to them in person and calling shows you are actively interested in getting the job not just waitin. Even if they said theyll call you try calling back. doesnt hurt 90% of the time.

I actually cleaned up the living room today and now I'm sitting here with my freshly colored hair up in a towel. I am reminded of the most recent insane movie I watched, Black Swan.
