I'm in the middle of reading two different books about the 2010 earthquake in Haiti and the response to it, gotta find something more upbeat to read at the same time or I'm going to get depressed. I often go through periods like this where I'll get a half dozen books on one topic and burn through them in a couple of weeks, but then I'll go for a month without reading anything remotely academic.

I had this one job, which hired me before the piss test came back. :)D ... mistake) It was on a construction site and I was in the supply shed. Anyway, when I accepted the job, I literally had NO IDEA it would be 7 days a week from 7am - 7pm. I have NEVER been so glad to fail a test in my life!!! A loser neighbor talked me into going to the job because he needed a ride and I was the one with the car. But back to the point, an entire week later when my name (and 2 others) were called to go to the office, I knew. They didn't let me even go back to the shed to tell the others bye (I liked my co-workers and they liked me). They drove all 3 of us out the front gate in a company truck! LOL They told us "You have to leave." I LOLed...I told them I had to wait for Pete since I was his ride...was that ok, I asked. The dude deliberated and said "well, yeah, I guess that will be ok". LOL - it was WEED in my system. The official dude even asked me why did I fail...what was in my system. I really did laugh and told him..."oh, it was pot." :2thumbsup:

I would be willing to bet there are numbers of jobs that certain people would do quite well, but they don't apply because they have simple possession and may test positive for thc.

There have been a few jobs that I just knew wouldn't hire me because I'm not in my 30's any longer AND I had thc in my system, so I never even considered applying. Now that I don't have it in my system, I'll be applying. I will NOT be telling a damn thing about simple possession(s) I had 15 and more years ago. I don't expect to be hired, actually...although I'll be NICE and dress properly and bla bla bla. I'll be applying to show certain people that even though I CAN pass the piss test, I doubt I'll even get an interview. I honestly and truly hope I'm wrong...but I bet I'm not.

lol...well that would be a bit much, imo.

However, in my dream world, people with thc in their system would not be automatically OUT of the running for relatively any job whatsoever (like it is now in the US...I can't speak for Canada). And, I don't give a crap if a person does have a script for opiates or not, they should not be given every single job they apply for. I say that - about the opiates - because I personally know a number of people that have scripts for whatever and as long as they have those scripts, they are never EVER turned down for a job!

you get drug tested to join the military, and if you become a cop... thats all I can think of.

I can't remember if i ever brought this up, but I was actually like one signature away from joining the military, throughout highschool my plans were to join the military afterwards, so during my entire grad year i spent it filling out what seemed to be endless applications and forums and whatnot and did a bunch of training and stuff, like the required tests and whatnot, i even quit smoking weed for like 2-3months...

then i realized... if i sign this paper, i'm signing away my freedom.. i'll never be able to smoke weed again, until i leave the military... why am i giving up weed, for the fucking government? I just thought it would be a cool chill job... getta do fun exercises and shoot guns all day! fuckyea lol

I guess, if you think about it, weed saved my life... if it werent for weed, id be in the military right now!

    thank you, weed :D

Oh LORD! Ortus, I would have missed out on sooo much had you not been here at HF! Yes, that is selfish, but do I care? NOOOO :D

About the military: my son must have scored HIGH on whatthehellever for the military tests given regularly to the high school kids. The recruiter guy (very handsome, I must add) came to our house to try and talk him into signing "just a paper to see what all he would be eligible for".

I was adamantly against it. He asked..."You're not patriotic?" I said..."sure...my son and I can LOVE our country from right here!" I asked him about the test and the scores, and he said "you wouldn't understand". hmmmmm I did NOT like that answer...

I explained to him that I used to be an evaluator for the state and I seriously doubted there were any tests/answers I wouldn't understand.

    He left shortly. :2thumbsup:

it is more common here to test someone after they crash or screw up at work....train engineers are tested automatically but only after an ''incident''

in ontario they are using doctors to control over scripting by asking tougher questions when there is a death etc

also certain pharmacies wont renew a fent-patch unless you bring the used ones in
