My Husband and I used to live in Sparks too. We moved here from there for his career. I miss the downtown area of Reno{Java Jungle area and that is a cool coffeehouse.} I ended up liking Vegas better overall though, but now I wanna live in San Diego.:)

zillagod it depends on which calneva ur wanting the one in tahoe is still there we will be going there this summer and the one in reno still advertises on tv so i asume it's still there.if i can pull myself away from tahoe i'll let u know.you know the saying about reno is so close to hell you can see sparks well look farther west and you will see hell oops i mean wells which is where i am.cowboy country sucks for this heavy metal girl.

sparks. i know somebody from fallon who works in a sushi joint in sparks. moved up here 14 months ago from roseville california. lived most of my life on 'the hill' (the donner summit corridor, between sacramento and reno, including truckee, auburn, colfax, roseville, meadow vista, all those on the cali side. also lived in reno back in 71 when californians had to come up here to throw their money away and the casino tax paid for almost everything and they all had gormet food at hamburger prices. bus system is a lot better now though.)

main thing i miss from roseville was railroad hobbies model train store and fry's computer and electronics store. in 71 there were three or four model train stores in the reno-sparks area. now the only thing is that tinplate store on fourth that's only open on weekends and a couple of guys doing custom painting in one of those bussiness incubator places.

there's some computer stuff in discount stores, wish is ok i guess.

if you like hookas, or all you can eat sushi joints, this is a good town for both of those. also meadowood didn't exist yet in 71. for that matter neither did the mccarin ring road nor the freeways through town.

there's an art supply place caled nevada fine arts, but my favorite used book store closed because the rent for the space it was in was rediculously high.

also i live in a fuzzy household and have room in my room for a narrow gauge model railroad which i'm building.

and my art can be seen on http://www.furaffinity.net/user/themnax/

oh yah, i also know someone from somewhere between battle mountain and winnimucca, and someone else from down near wabusca.

no car of my own though, which is why i'm living in a city instead of on a cheap piece of land out in the middle of the desert somewhere.

Nice to read MattinVegas's posts again. Must be 4 or 5 years since he passed. He was a good man. Always helpful to those that needed it.

still in the area. in reno now. guy who owned the house in sparks sold it so i had to move. cheap rents i moved up here for are going up. compensations aren't.
still no train or computer stores. and hippie college student kind of restaurants and coffee places keep becoming fewer instead of more.
kind of wish i was in oregon or b.c. canada. doubt i'll move any time soon though.

thinking seriously about moving from reno to grass valley california, where i've been many times but have never lived and have always thought i want to live somewhere in that area,
or eugene oregon where i did live for a while in late 70s but didn't have my pension i have now. both have things i like that reno don't, and i have no wish to move south.
i may die in reno, i'll be 70 in may. could have 20 or 30 years left but could keel over tomorrow too.
unless some things change here, and of course they always could, where i am just isn't where i want to spend the last however many they are, years of my life.
i can probably, just barely, afford, to make one more major relocation move in my life.
whether i do while i still can is unpredictable. i don't hate reno. its just what it has is too little of what interests me, and a whole lot that i consider harmless but uninteresting.

reno here, and no interest in anything further south then carson or maybe minden. actually if i ever relocate again it'll be the western, rainforested halves of oregon or washington state.
been here in reno since 2012. other places i've lived have been oregon, washington state, and parts of the sierras, north and east of sacramento, between there and here most of my life.
mostly the smaller towns like colfax, auburn and truckee. also roseville, but i like the lower humidity up here.
