Lynyrd Skynyrd does not suck...I mean yeah they're from a redneck background and fly a rebel flag...but comeone that's free speech isn't it what we stand for? Just cause you don't like it doesn't mean it sucks...plus they had kick ass guitar riffs/solos and piano too man...They're a jam band if you look at it...3 guitars....freebird...that smell....all good jam songs

Alice cooper has yet to get inducted, he needs to.. also billy idol should but dunno if he would qualify yet for soly, but maybe for his punk group generation x. but alice dunno when he will get inducted he probbaly did enough to piss the higher ups. his newer music is awesome , his brutal planet and dragon town album. dragoan town had some cool rockin roll hell type themse for certain songs , he did one for john lennon (its much too late) that sounded almost beatle like in beginning . lol and disgraceland for elvis

quote: they just get discriminated against cause they get associated with whitetrash and the such. but whatever, fuck you hippies

true, i hate their "southern" thing, but its really the music that is clinically proven to suck, plus half the band is dead, plus they aren't that popular, haven't had that many hits.....plus, they are a little too hippie-style for me

Just accept my offer of the Allman Brothers who make decent southern rock

why does it matter if half the band is dead? alot of the original allman brothers band is dead too. and if that is a requisit(sp) to get into the hall of fame then the allmans wouldn't get in either. but i do agree with you that the allman brothers band should get in, they were/are a great band. and how can a certain band be "clinically proven to suck"? skynyrd has alot of hits, and i would hardly called skynyrd hippie-style music.

no offense to the people that got in this year but the fact that BOA and Black Sabbath could have been in like 10 years ago is ridicluous

I still say Allman Bros. outdo Lynyrd Skynyrd. As for Allen Collins etc. and the guitar solos... the solo in Freebird is just too simple and too long for my tastes. I think the only person who can really play a long-ass solo and actually sound good with the simplest playing, is Neil Young. :p

what do you think of Alvin Lee, Orsino? My friend says his solos are wicked simple. He must be right because he is a very good guitarist. If thats so, alvin lee is good at long ass simple solos. He played for ten years after, wicked good classic rock.

Oh yeah... you ever see him play on the Woodstock DVD? :p He's great. He used to be known as the best British Invasion guitarist until Clapton got famous. I like Rory Gallagher too... irish blues guitarist. He's quite underrated, really. And technically, I would say Stevie Ray Vaughan was a very simple guitarist. Basic pentatonics and Vaughan brothers style texas blues shuffles... The only thing was that he knew how to play his notes and juiced the soul out of every single one. :p

Yeah, I've seen it, mind blowing stuff! I would reccomend "undead" too.

As for Rory, you are the 2nd person to mention him. I made a thread about irish classic rock (v. morrison, u2, fruupp, mellow candle and horslips) and rory was mentioned. I'll give him a listen.
