no calling black people is calling them what they are.
calling twists dreads is calling them something they aren't.

It just looks like twisted hair to me. Well as long as you don't comb it they'll turn into sick dreads.

 

It wasn't necessarily twisted after oh... day 4 I think. I untwisted and re-backcombed most of them for like 2 hours, though the reason you still see twists in some of them is just how they were stuck like that for 4 days. Though sme still have thje twists, like the smaller ones. Anyways, fuck that.

It's starting to shrink really fast now and locking up fast. I'm getting these sunflare looking things (What are they? Loops?) everywhere on each dread, and some of them are really hard and matted up. It's great! I can't wait to get some batteries and show you guys... and I can't wait for the length to start coming back.

 

uhhhh seth your wrong and i kinda take offence to that im not a "black' person i am AFRICAN AMERICAN there is a big diff my birth certificate deff dont say BLACK its says AFRICAN AMERICAN and im deff not "black" im brown and you should watch what you say i dont no how things are were you live but ppl flip when you say shit like that around here...just my two sense

 

I've had a black person say "dont call me brown, i know my skin is. but i'm fucking black"..

....So i guess it just depends on who you ask.

if a african american ever says that they are black then the need to be educated by there grandparents that they are not black they are african american i mean i dont walk around calling caucasin ppl crakers or pecker woods or honkies so why should it be ok for us to be called black ppl when were not???? ima leave it at tho i just take alot of pride in my back ground and take offence when you mistake a race for a color

I didnt even notice any substantial change untill, fuck, i dunno know, 2 months, they began to feel harder. I reckon my dreads would be lookin beasty by now if i hadna ever touched wax

 

there is no such thing as race.
also, i guess it depends on the individual. because some people of african descent call themselves black and hate the term african-american. and vice versa. that's when i write surveys i try to give people options (i.e. check ___black___african___caribbean__african american)

 

I may sound ignorant, but I'm caucasian and I don't mind being called white. Also, my close african-canadian friend calls himself black and all of my Indian friends call themselves brown.

Honky and cracker are very different than being called white.

But this appears to depend on where you live and the community you are a part of and perhaps raised in.

i guess your right i just feel like how that was said was a little more than just calling us a black ppl "its calling them whatthey are" but were not were afican american but its cool you wont really understand where im coming from over a computer so whats the point lol

Ahoy … What is the reasoning of using the term 'African American' now days? From what I understand, there is little evidence today of the wider African American culture intending ot return to and invest in Africa? Surely after so many centuries one is either African or American, i.e. if one’s heart is in Africa then one goes to Africa or if one’s heart is in America one stays in America? This is a genuine question, I’ve never been to the US and I don’t mean to offend anyone.

 

Alot of us are saying African American, and Caucasian to me smartasses haha, it's no big (or little) deal nowadays anyhow. If you're black you're black, if you're white, you're white. If you're mixed, you're Puerto Rican.

Atleast where I live, haha.

 

Ahoy … LOL, but it seems really redundant or micro-centric, as many academics across the world hold that all people originate from Africa. This is something that the ‘black conscious’ movement reiterated on a regular basis in previous decades … but surely ‘African Americans’ referring to themselves as African is as relevant as anybody else on the planet doing the same thing?

 

Just sayin my certificate don't say black and I'm mixed if you can tell by my pics African dad and caucasin mom not Mexican lol
