Radar love (Forgot who does this song) This song is by Golden Earring, one of my favorite bands. I saw them live last year! I can't believe that I forgot to mention Radar Love, the ultimate road trip song.
Perfect For Any Road Trip... Disc 1: "Threshold/Jet Airliner" by The Steve Miller Band (the perfect departure song) (crossfade) "Statesboro Blues" by The Allman Brothers Band (just for the driving rhythm) (crossfade) "Carry On" by Crosby Stills Nash & Young (also naturally a driving rhythm) "Going Up The Country" by Canned Heat (obviously) "Blue Sky" by The Allman Brothers Band (perfect for sunny days) "Box Of Rain" by The Grateful Dead (perfect when just staring out of the window) "Going To California" by Led Zeppelin (it's a song perfect for the road, about looking for something) "All Along The Watchtower" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience (don't know why I put this one on here, but it fits in nicely...) (crossfade) "One Way Out" by The Allman Brothers Band (yet another driving rhythm) (crossfade) "America" by Simon & Garfunkel (yet another obvious choice) "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" by Paul McCartney & Wings (another, 'don't know why, just fits...' song, but 'hands across the water' get's me hooked) (crossfade) "Key To The Highway" by Derek & The Dominoes (notsomuch an obvious choice, but it's a song about travelling and it has another great driving blues rhythm) "Jack Straw" by The Grateful Dead (another song about travelling) "Over The Hills and Far Away" by Led Zeppelin (again, obviously) (crossfade) "Crumbling Land" by Pink Floyd (not a well known song, but it does have a nice roadtrip feel to it) (crossfade) "Jessica" by The Allman Brothers Band (yet again, obviously; but it's a song made for the road) (end of Disc 1) Disc 2: "Mrs. Robinson" by Simon & Garfunkel (also a nice roadtrip feel) "Ventura Highway" by America (a travelling song indeed) (crossfade) "Swingtown" by The Steve Miller Band (yet again, another driving rhythm) "Ramblin' Man" by The Allman Brothers Band (yet again, another obvious choice) "Me & Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin (a real road song, indeed) "Teach Your Children" by Crosby Stills Nash Young & Garcia (another real road song) (crossfade) "Up Around The Bend" by Creedence Clearwater Revival (pulsating rhythm and some true road lyrics) (crossfade) "L.A. Woman" by The Doors (another great driving song. Come get some Mr. Mojo Risin'!!!) "Like A Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan (yet again, obviously; but it shows the innocence of being away from home) "Band On The Run" by Paul McCartney & Wings (a kinda gotta get out of here tune. another real roadtrip song) "Dead Flowers" by The Rolling Stones (a very true country-rock song, that was made for the road) "The Weight" by The Band (another travelling tune, great to listen to on your way back from somewhere) "Wild Horses" by The Rolling Stones (the counterpart of 'Dead Flowers', also perfect for the road) "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John (I'm sure some of you have seen 'Almost Famous', enough said) "Tangled Up In Blue" by Bob Dylan (Perfect Ending to your trip or to whatever, hopefully) (end of Disc 2) I Hope that this collection satisfies you, as much as it satisfies me. Make It Yourself, if you have the time, patience and capability. If you're driving yourself, play it your car stereo; or if you're on a tourbus or riding with friends, listen to it on headphones. [(crossfade) means that where the last song fades out, the next song fades in. It's a technique that you can learn to do from Nero CD Burning Software.]
Also, a few other good driving tunes that I didn't put on that particular mix... "Levon", "Daniel", and "Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters" by Elton John "Stagnation" by Genesis "Tangerine", and "That's The Way" by Led Zeppelin "This Wheel's On Fire", and "Up On Cripple Creek" by The Band "Jet", "Helen Wheels", "Tomorrow", and "Too Many People" by Paul McCartney & Wings "Suffragette City" by David Bowie "Free Ride" by The Edgar Winter Band "I Feel Free" by Cream "On The Road Again", and "Let's Work Together" by Canned Heat "Going Mobile", "Bargain", and "Baba O'Riley" by The Who "Riders On The Storm", and "Love Her Madly" by The Doors "Golden Slumbers-Carry That Weight-The End" by The Beatles "Wylde Tyme", "She Has Funny Cars", and "We Can Be Together" by Jefferson Airplane ...and a bunch of others that I can't think of right now...
"Day Tripper", "Here Comes The Sun", & "I'll Follow The Sun" by The Beatles "Moonage Daydream" by David Bowie "Smoke On The Water" and "My Woman From Tokyo" by Deep Purple :sunglasse
I'd put good driving songs on there. I was just thinking about this topic today and I find the actual thing on here!
Actually on a recent trip to Florida, I've discovered that Traffic's "The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys" sounds like a great road album. "Hidden Treasure", "Rock & Roll Stew" and "Many A Mile To Freedom" are the most roadworthy of the bunch.
Oh as well as Neil Young's "Greendale" & Fairport Convention's "Unhalfbricking" and "Liege & Lief" (especially "Tam Lin", "Reynardine", "Come All Ye", & "Matty Groves").
