Sorry for only just seeing this thread now... :(

Reading how Liam said "goodbye" to you made me cry, but it shows just how much he loved you, and that he wanted to be close to you in his final moments. I lost my first cat a year and a half ago, and it was the most gut wrenching emotional pain I've ever endured, so I know how it feels to lose such a dear friend and companion. Although I only had the priviledge of his company for 14 and a half years.

You should take solace in the fact that you gave him a loving home, and a wonderful life for all those years, which is something that I'm sure he was aware of even in the end. He was letting you know that when he was nuzzling up to you. <3 Cats have been the most beautiful companions in the world to me, and I know how special they are to so many people. And how horrible the pain can be of losing them from your life. :(

I'm here for you if you ever want to chat, or need a shoulder to cry on. Feel free to PM me anytime. :)

RIP Liam. I know you are now playing on that lovely rainbow bridge in the sky with all the rest of the world's beloved cats who have passed on. <3 I'm so sorry for your loss Glen, but you should be proud of all that you gave to Liam when he was with you. *hugs*

A dear dog friend of mine passed over recently, and another couple lost their dog two days ago.

We are greatly concerned about the resident cat here.

I just saw this pal- so sorry-
I have a kat (cassidy) that must be 14 yrs old now, I bum out when I think of the inevitable
We took him off the streets of the Bronx and gave him and are still givin him a great life-
I know you did the same, and must feel empty at the moment- Know that you did all you could and gave love till the end-

Well, my cats have been far more of a family to me than my biological human family have ever been, so I definitely am in the latter group. I can't have children, but I know that even if I could, I couldn't love a son or a daughter any more than I've loved my cats. Because it's not possible for me to love anyone more. :)

Edit: I tried to rep you for this post, but it wouldn't let me. :( But I do agree with what you said completely. xD

I am sorry to hear about Liam. It is always so hard to lose one of our fur friends. Over the years I have taken care of many cats. When they die they each take a piece of our hearts. Still I would not live this life without sharing it with my fur family. RIP Liam.

Be well and remember to take care of yourself.

You are more than welcome Glen, and I'd like to thank you very much for sharing yours and Liam's story. :)

As painful and heartbreaking as it was to hear of your loss, it also gladdened my heart to know how much joy Liam brought to you when he was alive. And the love you showed him, and the wonderful life that you gave to him. He was so lucky to have you, as you too were blessed with his prescence for all those years. :)

I have felt your pain, as I was left totally broken when I lost my first cat. But we also share in the knowledge of just how much joy and light our feline companions have brought to our lives. And it is because they give us so much when they are with us, that they leave such a huge void within us when they leave us in a physical sense. But they remain locked in our hearts forever, even when they are gone. <3

Now I've gone and made myself cry... sorry lol :( Thanks again for reminding me that there are some genuinely nice people on this planet. *hugs*

Once again the stupid system here won't let me rep you again without "spreading it more around" first... *frowns* lol

Yes, I do tend to find that people who love animals are generally a lot nicer than those who actively dislike them. Although reading about Liam was painful and upsetting, it also did my heart good to see the genuine kindness and compassion shown by people, when it seems like sometimes all I see is monstrous actions from my fellow humans. For people who love animals, it really does seem to bring out the best in them. This thread is definitely further evidence of that. :)

Liam was almost here for as long as I have been. What a strong cat - you must be proud. RIP Liam, old matey. Glen, you're awesome and I know you adored that cat. I'm glad he went so peacefully.

I'm old enough to tell you, for a fact (an unfortunate one) that it really is rare, indeed, for one to pass that beautifully and easily. No doubt Liam having grown as old as Methusala didn't hurt things any.

Even tho' some time has passed now, GLEN, I do so feel for you even now. It is afterwards, when it'll really hit. I can't help it, but I say God bless Liam, as he awaits his owner...

oh shit, strong powerful emotions hit me. i had to put my 18 year old cat, Prissy, to sleep, she had cancer of the stomach, liver and intestines. I didn't sleep or eat for several days, I was a total wreck, all I did was cry. I know she is across the Rainbow Bridge watching and waiting for me, no longer in pain.

I feel your loss my friend.

i do have a rescue I found out about on TheGrannies facebook page which is all about helping senior kitties. Her name is Steffy, she is a very loving cat and gives me things I need.

Exactly-people that don't like animals usually don't care too much about people, either-my ex is a prime example. If you don't like my dog, you probably don't like me too much, either.
