Both Phelps and Usain Bolt are freaks of nature, and we’ll not see the likes of them again in our lifetime

Still, its a little bit weird, how many 100s of millions of 18-23 yr old males on the planet, not one of them can run faster than this 30 yr old?

I was in the best shape of my life when I was 30.
My 18 year old self might Have won a mile race. But my 30 year old self would easily have won a 100m race.

I know I've read that Kenya is so much higher above sea level than say about everywhere else that this affects their bodies and their hearts are bigger or something...maybe it pumps blood better/faster...idk

But what I read said all of this affected Kenyans typically by making them very physically adapted to running and able to win these races...without googling all of this I'm sure some of y'all know what I'm speaking of.

The Ethiopians seem to be just bone, sinew, muscle and flesh stretched across that...moreso than some of the other competitors. (the way it looks in my eyes) I would guess not having even an extra gram of weight to carry would help make one a fast runner.

It was a really good interview with Bolt when asked if he was a "big deal" in his country and he smiled and laughed and said "oh yeah...I'm a kinda big deal there." :D

Aside from the Kenya high sea level thing, I do think these athletes (like Simone Biles also) are dang athletic freaks of nature.

Have to laugh at the medal tally.

What, they just give medals away for showing up if you're American or what? :D

I'm really happy with our small tally ranking 6th at the moment. :)

I concur though, I'm much better shape now at 29 than I was at 18.
I wasn't running any marathons though I'm from the bottom of the barrel yellow belly white trash and in a hundred yard dash I'm last place third class.

I'll take 'em on in a few sports though. Just not anything where cardio plays a part. I'll give 'em a go at archery, except I want all their cheating sites taken off. -.-

Do you think this headline is sexist?

I mean Phelps is his own brand, over 16 years and 5 Olympics, people are just going to want to hear about him more

Robbing an olympian (is that what a participant is called? Never knew) is worse than robbing a tourist?

Getting a medal and a wallet stolen would be worse than just getting a wallet stolen though

I've yet to see our resident fitness fanatic can't do a thing wrong but tell everyone they're all wrong PR win a medal so far. And I keep looking too. I don't see one though. Expert in everything, no medals to wear. :D

He hates sports. If they gave medals for beer reviews or conspiracy theories you might look silly.

Vanilla, you forgot to mention Simone Biles. Another athlete that is dominant in a few different types of events.
