You know Norm Macdonald once told a joke on SNL. OJ Simpson and Michael Jackson both said they'd sue, because someone accused them of that crime. Then the person said, okay, you can sue. And they both said, no, forget it. Because as Macdonald joked, courts have this nasty way of uncovering the truth. Anyways, the joke or whether or not they did it is not the point. They were both talking about discovery of information, or just discovery. My cousin who is a lawyer was telling me about that. When you sue or get sued, the court starts looking into all the documents. For the prosecution and plaintiff. All the records and all the files. And they might find out more about how the plaintiff's rights were violated. Just by accident of course. My family tells me no one could sue me. They could. But my cousin owns all my assets. The only thing I have is the money in my pocket, if they want it. But that's interesting. If someone is violating your rights, tell them you'll sue, even if you can't afford it. Or if someone tells you they'll sue you, even though you have no money, tell them you don't mind. If they do it might work to your advantage like I just said.
Unfortunately it's been common all throughout psychiatry's sordid history. Strict regulations need to be made to give patients complete autonomy, to have access to proper legal representation, the right to say no to treatments, doctors, and being able to leave in- patient treatment anytime they choose. Also, why is shock therapy still a thing? Disgusting! The doctors need a taste of their own medicine.
