Not fooling anyone, you're the whitest guy here, probably did your family tree a while back, found out your great great grandaddy was a plantation owner, and have been racked with guilt ever since
I don't even see negro(id) as a pure offensive term. It has become one though, I noticed, but the insulting term was ****** and negro(id) simply a term like 'caucasian' as i understood.
No use trying to rewrite history, Roosevelt didn't abolish convict leasing until 1941 Slavery didn't finish until then
Sounds like a black bandana would indeed be risky: esp from a distance they would confuse you with Zorro
Yeah I wouldn't want that. Although I think I did like the movie with Antonio B? And that chick. It's really just a face shield from one of those fishing sites lol. I have orange, a skull, a clown and the confederate flag. They are UV protective and helps with windburn. It just makes the most sense to wear. Feel like a cowboy. It's usually pulled down around my neck to stop my neck and getting burned. I got one of those buy 1 get 3 free deals. I also wear the UV arm sleeves too to protect my arms from the sun. I'm pretty ultra sun serious.
Yups fun stuff Anthony Hopkins plays the old Zorro, Banderas the new one. As a kid I was oblivious to the exact historic setting but later i really grew to appreciate the pre US California setting. You rarely see that in westerns.
Yeah, I was confused at first about movies like Fistful of dollars too. It has such a spanish vibe in the scenery at times. Wondered to what extent that was true in like 1875 New Mexico.
My guess: a combi of having a weakness for the underdog position, the 'rebel' attitude, a love for southern country and an urge to provoke.
Well, what's the point of even answering, really? Is any answer actually going to be sufficient, or is it just going to be the omg racist comments? Just to point out that outside of America aka the known world to Americans, it might actually surprise you know that the confederate flag is used a lot in then western world as the sign of the outlaw, one who chooses their own destiny. The rebel. Confederate flags flown high on German trailer parks, on the jackets of motor bike riders, us folk working in the fields. Not uncommon at all, we just don't use it in portrayal of what Americans use it for. No different to much insignia of the world. Doesn't make us ignorant, just give us something to believe in. For a flag that showed nothing more than the 13 states of the confederacy, I think much of the western world other than America see it like I do. A flag, but also a symbol of identity, but not racial identity, more so of the fight within us. All that flag represents to us is outlaw. That's why they adorn the tops of many trailer homes in Germany. Fuck the system, that's about it right there and any naysayer from America better save up some money and actually explore the world and its people before trying to talk to me down cause many people ain't no nothing about nothing outside fucken America. I'm sorry you guys have to live 200 years in the past but we have fight in us over here and though the moderately new nation of human atrocity, we're trying to get over shit and it's about time you cunts do the same.
I liked your post because you actually explained. Not because of the first question you ask in it. Because... what's the point of stating you wear one while knowing others will wonder why, and you can't be bothered clarifying that... While you also dislike it wrongly assumed why. Asking why you wear one is better to assume in advance you do it for the wrong reason, right?
Lol about this part btw. If any nation is still struggling with their past it is yours of course. Their concerns about people in this day and age flaunting the confederate flag is not an issue of living in the past.
I mean...isnt it illegal to fly a flag with a swastika on it in Germany? You dont have anything to "get over" regarding the confederate flag, it isnt part of your country's history and people there arent emotionally connected to it, for good or bad, like they are here Not trying to be as argumentative as this might sound, I just thought this last part of what you said was kind of funny considering symbols of your country's history have been banned
Depends what the swastika represents. If it's for religious or cultural reasons then no, that ban has been uplifted for a number of years now, also for any sort of academic use. My tattoo idea that I was ostracized for for instance, nobody would have any ground or justification to arrest me or whatever based on the significance of what it was. I tried saying that a year ago though, I actually remember posting the relative information about the law and it's passing in I have a job tyvm. I've explained that plenty of times. think people a little too rahrahrah to take it on board. It's no different to the Iron Cross displayed on bikie jackets, they're most likely not Nazis, I mean how mean people wear an Iron Cross shirt, jacket or hat as a branding that don't really get it? Is it Independent that's the brand? Here, we look at the confederate flag as going against the grain, in Australia they'd think nothing more than Bikie gangs as it's the insignia for the The Rebels which is one of the largest gangs in Australia. I showed the last picture to clarify that all walks of life will adorn the flag without hesitation if it gives them a sense of purpose and belonging. The is nothing forefront or racial about it, it's a brand and nothing more to these people and I feel people need to take that on board. Different things mean different things to people, people need to work that out and understand it. It's really no different to Juggalos being arrested for wearing a Hatchetman shirt or pendant. That's why ICP marched on Washington, because it isn't a hate symbol or a gang symbol, it's a music brand and there's too many innocent folks going to jail over it.
