Oh, by the way, my reference to changing the flooring in my trailer doesn't mean I live in one. No, I live in a normal 3 bed semi, but I have a 6ft x 3ft metal and wood trailer that I use for carrying lots of heavy stuff around, and the plywood floor on it rotted out. So I had to replace it before any of the heavy items I use it for fell right through. Just thought I'd clear that up before it became a misunderstanding.
Busy busy busy the day's been so busy, I hardly slept this afternoon! :-^ Well, it rained in the end, so I couldn't do much anyway except look out the window, but I was so busy looking I fell asleep without realising it. That's my excuse anyway, so there. .................................. Balance in all things ------------------------------------------------- "It's a difficult balance!" the little man said as he walked the tightrope far above and though he made it all look easy I knew for him it was a labour of love 'Why would anyone want to do that?' I wondered looking up at the speck in the blue 'I mean, having to do that balancing act what's he think he's got to prove?' then I answered myself in dulcet tones 'He does it because he can you know' well that may be so but what if I could eat molten lead would I want to? I don't think so instead I'd live inside my head it's nice and warm and cozy there where only I can share the bed that is if there's some room to spare but doing plainly stupid things that risk both life and limb are not the kind of thing that springs to mind as in a dream for though it may be exhilarating to be able to look down I really don't like heights you know I'd rather be here on the ground so after watching the little man as he swayed and twitched and shook up there in the air on his rope of steel he can keep it, yes he can coz if I did it I'd make sure to have a safety hook that curled around the rope that spanned the chasm before I undertook to cross the void, I would avoid all risk to my own skin I'd cower down and wander round on hands and knees but with a grin so that's the tale I'd like to tell believe it if you will but if you don't believe it, well the world won't end now will it ------------------------------------------------- See you tomorrow
Here's one you may not have heard of. When I was young my mum took me to Blaise Castle, where every year they held a fair, or fayre, however you wish to spell it. Today's ditty is about that fair. ..................................... Goram's ----------------------------------------------------- Goram the giant looked around his one eye blinking he loudly groaned "Where's my wife?" he rumbled deeply "She should be here!" he blinked again sitting there upon his throne he watched the people milling around but when he spoke the people froze to hear such words spoken so loud behind the tents and generators all the children ran and screamed no-one expected him to speak the giant with one enormous eye he was the centre of attention the mythic giant for all to see who sat bethroned upon a cushion and offered up a guarantee a promise of fun and lots of laughs upon the green where everyone with cameras ready snapped photographs of the giant who sat in contemplation he normally smiled for the milling crowds who came each year to pay a visit they wouldn't expect to see him frown though right now that's what he was doing he missed his missus, where'd she go? he looked around but couldn't see her she should stand out, she'd tower over everyone excepting Goram of course so although he stayed he kept on looking hoping she'd just reappear but after days of waiting for her eventually everything had shut the roustabouts now all moved in and struck the tents with loving care soon the whole was packed away t'was the end of another Goram's Fayre ----------------------------------------------------- Goram was a 15ft giant who sat on a chair at the entrance to the fair. It was called 'Goram's Fair' after him. I can still see him in my mind's eye, sitting in an enormous chair and smiling down on the crowds of people who used to visit the fair every year. For some reason I remember him with one eye, but I can't find any pictures of him on the internet to confirm this. See you tomorrow, on Frixxxxxday!!
Sorry for the delay, but yesterday I was working in Wales and didn't get home till gone 10pm. By the time I'd uloaded the car and had my tea it was time for bed. So here's yesterday's poem. ...................................... Unusual sight ----------------------------------------------------- Suddenly one summer when the rain was warm I looked out from the cover of my brolly to see a sight I'd never seen before for there was a five legged doggy "Woof!" he said as my jaw hit the ground he just wandered away without looking around 'I wonder how he does it?' I thought then I frowned to think how he uses a tree I mean, a fifth limb must get in the way you know when he cocks up his leg perhaps he just doesn't care where it goes but it might be interesting to see and also how does he sit up and beg with three legs and a tail on the ground mind you it would make a fortune I bet with lots of curious people around with smartphones and cameras selfies would abound they'd all want a photo to send all around to their friends and their families wherever they be meanwhile I think I might try to catch him and see if he's chipped, has an owner or significant other you know someone waiting at home, like his mother I wonder if his siblings have five legs as well I s'pose there's only really one way to tell so I'll follow him and see where he leads for a while then I'll collar him and walk him home with a smile and feed him and name him and give him a bed coz I reckon he could earn a fortune though I know I would be importuning with him to scam all the tourists and make them all pay to see such a sight and then selfie with him it'd pay for his food and his bedding each day I just hope his furry coat he's not shedding I'm allergic to fur and feathers you see I come out in hives if they're ever close to me and my eyes go all puffy and watery too so perhaps after all the best thing to do is just let him go on about his business, toodle-oo ----------------------------------------------------- See you. With luck I'll post up today's poem later.
Tired today after yesterday's exertions over in Wales. Never mind, here's a short ditty about May ........................ May the first -------------------------------------------------- "May the first be a blessing and the second one too and the third and all subsequent babies for you!" said the old fortune teller as she sat in her tent to the anxious young couple during their appointment she smiled as she told them then held out her hand they knew what was expected and passed her some coins they rose for their leaving and their hands they both joined knowing they might conceive in the fullness of time then beaming from ear to ear they opened the flap and skipped out together without looking back the wizened old lady now smiled to herself another girl happy and not left on the shelf who knows if she'll fall, perhaps it's just luck of the draw to conceive the next time they....."!" -------------------------------------------------- See you tomorrow!
Sunday today, and it was shopping (groan!). Never mind, we got lots of food in so we won't need to do it again for a few days. Then there was a Grand Prix on the telly this evening. So we watched and once again Lewis did some amazing overtaking moves to prove once more that he's the best there is, or ever has been, in the driving seat of a Formula 1 racing car. ..................................... Grand Prix ------------------------------------------------- A flash of red, a flash of white a flash of blue then it's out of sight the sound of thunder flashing past the blurred wheels shine they spin so fast the race is on to take the flag don't hang around, no time to lag behind the leaders as they stream around the track with engines screaming the smell of burning rubber spreads all through the crowd as turning heads follow all the action as it passes by the stands each lap the tension rises will he won't he overtake this time around the leaders bunch toward turn one the tyres screech as brakes come on the people stand up in their seats to try to get a better view as drivers dice with danger fleeting seconds later he's got through then off into the distance weaving side to side as power comes in they drag race on to the next corner will one of the drivers spin who knows? That's all a part of racing lends excitement to the day as cars and drivers strain to be the best and take the points away the points that can make all the difference to how much money each team gets for that's the way their teams are financed similar to winning bets and soon the circus will move on to open up another day another race another country and more hard work to earn their pay and all the time the ones at home sit back and watch it on the telly they don't get the atmosphere they don't get to smell the smells they only live vicariously the thrill of racing on the track until they try it for themselves they'll never fully understand the pumping of adrenaline to hear your pulse in your own ears to feel the bumps in every corner to conquer your own primal fears to live the edge is another life like balancing on the point of a knife it all happens in the blink of an eye when you can only do or die so take your life into your hands throw it in with all your might with luck if you just take a chance you could come through into the light the day is here the day is gone another memory to be tucked away and all along you know you'll win eventually ------------------------------------------------- See you Moonday!
Well, what a day? Started off nice, but gradually deteriorated into a bit of a storm. ......................... The storm -------------------------------------------------- The third of May was a lovely day it started dry and sunny but by noon it was becoming grey and by evening it was windy the wind and rain are out there now pummelling the trees and bushes I feel for the pigeons and doves and how do they feel when the weather gushes the rain is cold the wind as well it's not a nice place to think about I wish I could offer a place to dwell where the birds could wait the storm out but sadly I don't have such a thing so they have to take their chances perhaps they'll get behind a tree trunk to hide from the whipping branches I watched from the window as the light went and the night blew in on the breeze the darkness fell like a tolling bell to warn the birds they could freeze let's hope they don't just pass away the life sucked out like a vacuum as the chill factor takes their warmth away leaving nothing but icy cold and gloom tomorrow it'll be Star Wars day May the fourth be with them will they still be sky walkers and fly away or will there just be mayhem with broken wings and scattered feathers spread all over the grass to witness the end of more small lives sometimes fate can be so crass I really hope that's not the case and that the pigeons and doves survive I love to watch them eating each day I really like to see them thrive -------------------------------------------------- May the fourth be with you tomorrow!!!
Did you know that the fourth of May was famous well before Star Wars came on the scene? Back around 1970 Al Stewart wrote and sang a song called 'Night of the 4th of May', all about breaking up and then getting back together with his girlfriend ............................................ May the fourth be with you! ------------------------------------------------------ May fourth came and May fourth went and I can't say I noticed much difference it's not as if Luke Skywalker sent his regards or made an appearance but the birds are still there I'm happy to say they're still flying around in the garden making a mess of the bird table today as they've always done without leave or pardon so I guess we had our own 'sky walkers' who entertained us throughout the day and though Luke didn't turn up to play the birds still turned up at the rendezvous by this evening the table was empty it seems that the birds were all hungry I think last night the wind blew the seeds away so today they stuffed their small furry bodies it was funny watching them trying to fly with full tums and gusting breezes sometimes they didn't quite make it aloft and just fluttered around looking quite helpless still they've now got some energy into their bods they'll soon be chasing each other around mating season's started and they're funny to watch as they run through the grass on the still rain wet ground tomorrow they'll do the same as today they'll swoop down to land on the table and peck at the food lying there on the tray that I fill up whenever I'm able it costs me some money each week to do this but I don't mind the cost without the birds visiting each day I'd miss their presence, and I'd feel the loss so for now anyway I'll continue to feed the birds of the local community and watch as they satisfy their daily needs and enjoy their constant activity ------------------------------------------------------ See you tomorrow, on May Fifth! Oh, that's my wedding anniversary. How many years is it? Lots.
As it's my wedding anniversary today I've taken the executive decision to give the poetry a rest for the day. However, normal service should be resumed tomorrow, so keep an eye out for fresh odes as of Thursday.
Well, as promised, normal service has been resumed. Here's today's offering ....................................... The winds of change ----------------------------------------------------- It's nearly dark the daily ark of light has run its race is over so now it sleeps as do we who toil beneath it our energy sapped we must relax our time moves on another turn of the wheel and fortune will appear as fate and hope do battle around us will we fail or perhaps prevail the winds of change blow their own way ----------------------------------------------------- See you Frixxxxxxxday!
Cold and back achy today, but never mind, here's today's offering. ......................................... Quiet spirit ------------------------------------------------- Looking out over the peaceful lake the steady ripples of the quiet water dark under the cloud filled sky ripples that have always moved every day since the lake first filled one day I'll be like those ripples restless moving ever onward not in this body, but in bright spirit as ghostly as the wind and as free as the air I wonder if you will join me there we can skim reality and pass through solid walls like light through glass and rush through space faster than light to the perfect dark of everlasting night yet when we've touched all of creation we can return to watch the living and wait as countless lives move on till those will join us by and by for we cannot just touch the sky when we've passed on we'll reach the eternal plane the perfect high ------------------------------------------------- See you Saturn Day!!
Stuff to do and things to read, but I found the time this evening to knock up a few words. Which is not to say that I made them pregnant (snigger snigger ) but you know what I mean. Here they are, the words, the beautiful words, the perfect words, that when let loose can start or end wars, and cause people to want to live or want to die. Wow! Heavy stuff eh? Never mind, have a read of what's below. ............................. The Beauty Bell -------------------------------------------------- Hark, is that the bell I hear? The bell of beauty that when it rings sends out wonder and a smile to all who hear it, all who know that beauty is not just in the skin but what lies beneath, and within the beauty that shines for all to see the blind the deaf and you and me we know when beauty is really there it's not just in the lips or hair it's written in the body moves the way in which they seem serene they glide through life yet always care for others less well off than they are the lonely ones who miss the call the people who through life's travails don't enjoy the rapt attention of those who see beyond the veil and reach within to find perfection hidden in plain sight their lives are always lived at night with no bright sun to light their world no spotlight there to pick them out or bell to ring to bring the adoration they desire so much with little confidence they breathe and move through life unseen they never make the move to gain the heart of those of whom they dream so live their whole time unfulfilled until they pass beyond beyond the gate of consciousness into the world unknown, where beauty may not hold the sway it holds with us here every day where the bell rings and brings our senses to the fore to try and capture for ourselves the vision of those pure and unique creatures the ones whose beauty we perceive from when we're born till when we leave -------------------------------------------------- See you tomorrow.
Lewis did it again! Only two more wins to get his ton up! If he does that he'll be the first Formula 1 driver ever to do so!!! Anyway, here's today's offering. .................. Strategy --------------------------------------------------- "So where do we go from here?" he asked and looked the other in the eye "We had success in the past" he said "yet now it seems to pass us by" "I know what you mean" the other one said "you're right we seem to be losing it, but I don't see how we can pull it back knowing what we both know now!" He nodded his head in agreement then dropped his eyes in despair it looked like the best time was over and now they were going nowhere so he slowly turned away and shook his head in sorrow it was all over for today but there was still tomorrow tomorrow the day that never comes it's always there in the future to give us hope of something new that changes what's in the picture raising his eyes he slowly thought of where they should be headed if they didn't want to lose the edge it's the one thing that he dreaded the fear of failure haunted him knowing what could happen if they did the wrong thing termination could be sudden for though he knew his strategy was designed to deliver a win he knew it could be touch and go and all decided on a whim so thinking carefully he said "I think we need to go back to where we started moving with the flow and think it through all over again as though from the beginning coz if we don't I'm pretty sure it'll stop our team from winning!" --------------------------------------------------- See you Moooooonday!
