When I first discovered LSD I fell head over heels for it, and perhaps took it a bit too far, but for the most part it was all good I had a stage where I went onto anti-depressants. Now normally LSD isn't good with anti-depressants, as they act like an MAOI inhibitor, and depending on their function will increase or decrease the effects of acid. I thought I'd be okay because I was on this drug Lamictal (Lamotrogine) http://www.drugs.com/lamictal.html Which is technically classified as an anti-seizure (mood stabilizer) Obviously it wasn't, I had two experiences with this "combo" and both times I was suspicious that I may have just gotten an RC, after revisiting my old friends from that experience, they really think it was the anti-depressants which I'm bound to believe. On both experiences I felt relatively normal on come up (normal to coming up, not 'normal' lol) Then about 2-3 hours where the peak would kind of start, I just lost all of my memory of the experience, and literally went insane. I don't wish to share those stories, but let's just say I had two bad trips. I have been off anti-depressants for ~6 months now. don't take any other medications. I wish to confront LSD almost as a way of leaving this irrational fear behind. ------ So my question I leave you with, is would you recommend revisiting LSD? Can you relate to a prescription combo? Can you relate to revisiting LSD after a long and/or uncomfortable break?
i am hesitant to recommend that you try acid again. and i really enjoy the stuff. i don't think it's a good idea to dose when on psychoactive medication, so now that you are off it...it's obviously up to you to decide. do you feel it was all to blame on the medication? if so, that is not an issue anymore. do you feel that it was partly due to bad set/setting? pay special attention to this if you do decide to dose. and i would start with just one or two hits, not a monster dose.
If you want to explore your mind or feel that it is appropriate to explore LSD, then go for it. If you just want to take LSD to prove to yourself you won't have a bad trip, I wouldn't recommend it. You seem to have a fairly responsible approach to drugs, so if you are off the pharmaceuticals, I say go for it. I have explored MDMA after taking smart drugs the previous days. This is somewhat comparable to taking medication, I certainly noticed a difference in effects when I took the MDMA. I have taken a few years off from LSD before. I wouldn't say it was for exactly the same reasons as you but my hiatus followed a heavy trip, with some difficult moments.
I was hoping more people would have posted something. Seems like this section of the forums was much more active in the past. Anyways, I have decided to drop 2 hits today at 11:25am. I'm hoping this will go well I was just reading about the effects of LSD and Lithium/tricyclic anti-depressants. And I'm pretty confident now that every bad experience I've had related to LSD was entirely due to anti-depressants. Anyways, best of luck for this trip, I'm very anxious coming into it. But I'm hoping to learn how to face my fears, ease anxiety, and be reintroduced to the beautiful world of psychedelics
since you're off the anti-depressants for awhile now, you should be fine. usually when i dose, any anxiety i'm feeling pre-trip just melts away once i start feeling the effects. not smoking (too much) weed before tripping can help avoid anxiety as well. i think you'll have a great trip man
