Retirement communities for old counter culture types

Lots of us are hitting or are in old age. My wife and I are both on social security now and are looking for affordable places to live. Housing in a lot of the usa has gotten ridiculously expensive and it's getting a little scary. Affordable old people communities aren't very welcoming to counter-culture types; we're not much for bingo or easy listening music and all that implies. Anyone running into this, and do you have suggestions? Communities and inexpensive places to live are hard to find; social security doesn't stretch very far.

 

Consider living in an ecovillage.

 

Start a Commune !!!!
I know that they are Government programs to get one funded .
Find like minded people and organize .
